STD, Herpes, Heat rash!?
Recently, I went on a vacation and stayed at some hotels. I've used some of the travel size body washes that were in the hotel. On this same trip I had oral sex a few times that I gave and received. The person that I slept with wouldn't have knowingly gave me something intentionally. I never mentioned it because I don't want to make a big deal about something that can be as simple as a heat rash. I'm trying to go through my head what it could be. I was walking a lot so there was plenty of sweat and rubbing in my tight jeans. Unrelated, but I've been on minocycline for a few months. Sometimes I forgot to take my pill throughout the week of the vacation. I got a couple of spider bites.
My symptoms:
The onset of my symptoms happened only a couple of days after my last sexual encounter. I kind of doubt that it's an STD because even syphilis has a incubation period of at least 9 days. I did notice before most of my bumps on my thigh surfaced that there was a very inflamed pimple like bump. After the inflammation went down in that one pimple and started to heal a couple of days later bumps near my groin started to pop up. The pimple like bumps started popping up after my vacation when I wasn't doing much activity. It has progressively been getting worse.
Another symptom I noticed is how extremely dry my balls were. It was also itchy and itching it would make it worse. I also felt like my lips were sort of dry.
The bumps also spread to my other upper thigh region as the other started becoming progressively worse too.
I would also like to note that the person who I was sexually in contact with complained about being itchy. Mostly on their back. I itched the back with my fingernails. There wasn't anything that I could visually see that was wrong. I talked to this person again a week later (tonight) and there was a mention of itchiness.
I tried googling images on what it could be and I completely have no idea! Some of what I googled for were herpes, syphilis, heat rash, bed bugs, mites, scabies, spider bites, etc. The closest to what they were similar like are flea bites but it definitely isn't that.

Any help would be appreciated or any ideas. It's sort of embarrassing and I rather it be a last resort to get it checked out with a doctor. Thanks.

the combined test was a waste of time. it being positive is pretty much meaningless.
I don't think your hsv1 igg was reported as greater than .91, that makes no sense. they either report it as less than .91 or they give an actual numeric result like 5.6 or even some will report as greater than 5. please recheck your results for me - thanks!

Alright, so I called him and they give me these results that were above the reference range. They did 8 different hsv testing they said.
hsv I/II igG 2.5 High Reference range 0.0 -0.8
HSV-I greater than 0.91 reference range 0.00-0.90
hsv I/II igG 2.5 High Reference range 0.0 -0.8
HSV-I greater than 0.91 reference range 0.00-0.90

Oops! I meant hsv1. I'll call my doctor later today when they're open and post the results. I'm guessing hsv1 is very similar with mono in terms of hiding itself and coming out once in awhile?
hpv is a different virus. did you really mean hsv1?
even the best herpes blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. if you had a + result on one test, you very well might actually have it. It's incredibly common and statistically 1 out of every 2-3 people you know has it. If you can get the test results you were + on to post here, I'll gladly take a look at it for you - e.g. hsv1 igg 5.4 or whatever it is.

I made an appointment that's in two weeks at the Dermatologist. It's the quickest they can see me. I'll try Lamisil and see if it helps at all. Thanks for the recommendation!
I have been tested for herpes in the past @gracefromHHP. I was positive on one test HPV 1 but my doctor told me that it could be a false positive because I relapsed on mono during that time. I then got tested twice after that and it wasn't positive. I don't know what that was about.

while herpes is on your mind, have you ever been tested for it to know your status?

Agree, a dermatologist should be able to help you. BTW just FYI, a good anti-fungal cream is Lamisil. May try a little of that on a spot to see what happens. Takes a week or two applying it a few times everyday but it works. It got rid of a fungus I had between the buttocks. Maybe it will help with what you have. But definitely go see a Dermatologist. Once you figure out for sure what it is, he may have something to start treating it with.

Thank you! It definitely looks similar. This might be an issue that was overlooked because I've been having issues this year with acne on my back, chest, buttocks, face, etc. I went to the Dermatologist a few months ago and there wasn't any mention of folliculitis. I was just thrown an antibiotic. Being on Minocycline DID help clear up some of the lesions since I've been on it for a few months. I'm starting to think that this isn't a bacterial infection from how long I've been on Minocycline but much rather a fungal or possibly yeast version of folliculitis.
I'm guessing seeing a Dermatologist will suffice?

Your image looks similar to folliculitis. There's also something called Hot tub folliculitis.

It's a bacterial infection in the hair follicles. Some causes can be tight clothes irritating the skin, whirlpools, hot tubs or swimming pools that are poorly chlorinated etc and a number of other causes. Look like pimples with hairs in the middle. They may have puss in them and itch or burn.

You need to see a doctor. And don't be embarrassed. Doctors see and hear stuff every day. You're no different than anyone else they see.. Get checked and get to the bottom of the problem so you can treat it and get some relief.

I'll try using an OTC anti-fungal. Reviewing fungal infections on Google it looks like just a huge rash with not many lesions. I have basically pimples that are clustered together that are progressively getting worse everyday and spreading to more areas on my upper thigh region. It looks sort of like a small area of chicken pox or something.

Your symptoms don't sound at all like herpes. A primary infection outbreak typically occurs at the site of transmission; for men that would be the penis itself.

So, you know your jeans were rubbing and you have a rash there now, which could just be a few irritated hair follicles/skin. As well, an itchy scrotum can easily be caused by a fungal infection. And indeed, you shouldn't scratch. You could try on OTC anti-fungal first, and then see your medical provider of course for an exam if that doesn't work.
