Is all genital herpes the same?
I'm currently infected with genital herpes (sigh). My new partner as luck would have it is also infected. My current herpes appears to be dormant since I've never had an outbreak. My question is Am I at risk of getting new/different herpes virus Infection or is herpes just herpes?
I'm wondering this too, because I have never seen an outbreak and my gyno told me she saw no evidence of me having internal outbreaks. I'm afraid of the same thing though.
This is a slippery slope but with never having an outbreak it hard to diagnose where hsv2 can be oral. Do you know what tests they gave you? Igg or igm?
if so what was your numerical value. This all can make a difference. If you have no idea and can't for some reason find out. Then I would get a type specific igg test. No igm tests.
There are a lot of Dr's that are not to swift in respect to hsv.

There is hsv 1 and hsv 2. Both of these can be contracted to the genitals. How where you diagnosed with herpes? How do you know you genital herpes if you've never had an outbreak?

An old gf required I get a std screen a few years ago before taking the next step (kudos for her lol). The results were shocking. I've been retested and have spoke in length with my infectious disease doctor and he has confirmed the hsv2 positive results. I never though to as him this question though
