Scared to death.

I am currently freaking out and need the best advice possible. This is going to sound absolutely ridiculous, but a couple years ago I tested positive for hsv 1- index value greater than 8.0. I accidentally touched my cold sore and then touched my genitals while going to the bathroom. This accident happened 2-3 years ago. I'm worried that I could of given myself genital herpes this way. I have not had a genital outbreak yet, but today I have severe burning and I'm scared it's the beginning of an outbreak.

What is the likelihood I passed my oral infection to myself genitally?
Should I be concerned?

Please someone help me. I'm freaking out and can't seem to calm down. I need definitive answers.

Oh hell. I will jump in as well. Thats correct you absolutely are not going to spread the infection to your genitals. Have a great day.

So you cannot give yourself genital herpes by touching a cold sore and then touching your genitals?

Thank you Life360 & fleetwood20!

Absolutely not. You have a well established oral infection and an immune system to match. You cannot innoculate yourself in this way!

Hi, those that contract the same in both areas got it at the same time, not from what you describe so dont freak out. And being basicly immune to passing it to both areas its not passed that way anyway but needs to be rubbed in from direct contact. Now if you said you gave yourself oral sex with an active lip sore you may have a good question but hand to genital is not how its passed.
