Shedding Genital to Anus

Is it possible to spread HSV from your genitals to anus via your own hand?  As an example, rubbing your scrotum/testicle region and touching your buttock/anus region?  Not masturbation but just casual rubbing.

I've heard that anything within the boxer short region is contagious.  Does the virus shed from any area (legs, penis, testicle, pubic)?

If you think the penis and anus are two separate passage ways of infection, you need to look at an innervation chart.  You can have your own opinion about this, but the penis and anus are served by the same set of nerves and infection of the penis by herpes leads to infection of the entire area of the body from waist to mid thigh.  Have you heard of a prostate infection caused by chlamydia?  That's because the prostate is also in that group of places that have some connections down there.

You seem to have you own set of beliefs that don't have much to do with real science, so I'm afraid, since we are dealing with two widely disparate sets of scientific beliefs, that I cannot be of more help to you.

Thanks for your response Terri.  Unfortunately I see the penis and anus as two separate and discrete passage ways of infection.   It appears you can have two concurrent infections.  No disrespect to your opinion, but the anal and stomach pain is too hard and convenient to ignore.

With that said, does hsv caused proctitis reoccur often? Since its not present in the sacral region?

When a person is infected with genital herpes, the entire region from waist to boxer shorts is basically infected so no, you can't spread the virus from the genitals to the anal area because that whole area is already infected.  When lesions show up in a new place in that area, it is because the virus chose to move to a new nerve, it is nothing that you did or could do.  

The virus can shed from the penis, top of the scrotum and anus.  The legs and thighs and most of the scrotum have skin that is too thick to shed.
