Shingles

I get a herpes out break when I stress real bad well I had an out break when I was on treatment for Hep C and it was a shingles outbreak and it hurt real bad and it was in my face but it dont break out to bad.  But recently I had a herpies outbreak on my lower back where I usuall get it when I stress a lot.  Well this time this really small spot has hurt soooooo bad I was taking vicodin when Tylenol didnt work an then the vicodin didnt work either and I went to emergency at 4 am because I couldnt stand the pin anyh more they took all kinds of test blood, ulra sound and even a cat scan. Because they thought it might be my gallbladder but no it wasnt.  o they gave me valtrex and a shot of morphine and a prescription for Percocet and now I drugged up and have to take it every 5 to 6 hours.   hot bath helps but I want to be off these drugs I cant even drive.  Does anyone out there know of any thing else that might help with this.  I want to go back to work.  But I cant....please let me know.  Thanks so much.  Ohh does Steroids help?

Also talk to your doctor about going on daily suppressive therapy to help prevent recurrences of herpes.  Might be a good option until you are done with your hep c treatments and are in general feeling better.

Oh don't use steroids on it, unless you want it to be an outbreak on steroids lol.  It can make it much much worse.

Ask your doctor for lidocaine ointment.  Its a topical ointment that numbs the area.

If you have a current hep C infection, you need to be careful with pain meds and things like tylenol, too, but I'm sure you know that.
