Small sore on penis herpes or something else?

Hi!
I’m 22 male in generally good health, I had sex with a girl about 12 days ago and since about 4 days ago have discovered a single small red sore on the edge of the tip of my penis.

It’s very small, painless and sometimes hard to see. I thought it would go away after a day or two but it’s been 4 days since I first saw it and it’s still there. I did experience a 103 fever, sore throat and nausea 2 days after our hookup but I think it was likely from bad food in combination with a cold I was already fighting for a week.

The only other symptom I feel is a slight burning when I pee sometimes but I honestly can’t tell if its just in my head or it actually burns.

Could this be herpes? Could it be something else/worse? Should I see a doctor?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!

You had a 103° fever and didn't see a doctor?

Note for the future - if that happens again, that's an emergency, and you should see a doctor. How long did that last?

A single sore on your penis could be herpes. It could also be syphilis. It could be balanitis, or a host of other things. It might be nothing if it's hard to see. You need to see a doctor about it, though.

You don't say if the sex was unprotected or not. If it was, you should get tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, mycoplasma, and NGU.

You can test for syphilis at 6 weeks. It's uncommon in most developed countries - the US, Canada, UK, Europe, etc., but you are in the time frame when a sore would develop, so get it looked at. If they say you can test now, go ahead and test.

If they think it's herpes, ask them to do a type specific culture or PCR swab on it. Don't let them just visually diagnose you.

I'm concerned about your fever. That's a really high fever.

Could you have had covid?

So the fever lasted about one day, I threw up and took some advil and went away after a nap, it was 102 most of the time but the highest it got was 103. The sex was with a condom, and I did take a covid test and it was negative. When I got sick my first instinct was that it was my dinner from the night before which was potentially undercooked meats. I guess I’ll go to see a doctor now anyways about the sore, although it’s almost gone by now I don’t know if they can swab it.
If the sore is almost gone, you can rule out it being a syphilis sore. That would last about 3 weeks.

Did it ever blister? It could be a herpes sore, but if it wasn't ever painful, I'd doubt that, too.

The condom means you don't have to worry about things like gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, hep B, etc.

I'm glad you're feeling better. That's a really high fever for an adult.
It didn’t really have many stages, it sort of looked like a tiny scratch for 3 days, just red. Now as I’m checking it’s barely visible and no scab or anything. I can provide an update when I see the doctor and if I get test results
Maybe it was just a scratch. Sometimes things really are just what they seem.

Definitely let me know what happens. :)
