So confused. 2.05 positive herpes 2 igG test?

Hello, I have many questions to ask. I recently had sex with someone else, about 2 weeks ago. It was rough sex about 3 times. I was sore down there and started my period, I used tampons so it made my vagina even more irritated. My throat started to hurt and I started running a fever. I took myself to the doctor, who was kinda lousy said he thinks it was strep, swabbed it and it came back negative so he just gave me antibiotics. The next day i was in severe pain, could barely urinate from it burning my cuts or what I thought were tears from the rough sex. So I go back again and explain to him that my throat is very sore, he looks in it again and thinks it's mono. Takes my blood and it comes back positive so I'm put on a antiviral. He then gives me a Pap smear or something of that matter and at the time I had these two sores on the outside of my vagina that I thought were from shaving and friction of him rubbing on it. They didn't look like herpes. He asked me about them and I told him that's what I thought they were. He said they could possibly be herpes even though they looked nothing like herpes. So he swabs my vagina for studs and bacteria and sends it in. The next day I get a call saying that I had gardnerella bacteria and that everything else (chlamydia, gonna) came back negative. He said continue the antibiotics for the garderella that he perscribed me for what he thought was a sore throat. For the next week I ran a fever continuously and was very weak, so I go back and he gives me a steriod shot for the swelling of my throat. That reduced my fever dramatically and luckily it never came back. My vagina was still very irritated. He looked down there and said there were no cuts or lesions just very irritated and I developed these bumps two on my butt cheek close to my butt crack and several on the outside of my vagina, like I said I was on my period. My vagina was way too sore to use tampons, so I used pads which I never have used. I was sweating out my fever while using pads and have the time I would just change them due to sweat. He said that  he thinks it could be herpes, and said I should get my blood work done. Never specified which test. I get my blood work back a few days ago, and they say I tested positive for both types of herpes. I wanted a copy of my lab. I look at my paperwork and it says herpes 1 igG 0.36, which was negative according to the scale (<.90 was considered negative) so I don't understand why they said I had it. I look at herpes 2 igG test and it says positive 2.05. My heart sank and I don't know what to do. I keep researching and it says that could be a false positive. I never had a swab of the sores done, so I don't know for sure if they were herpes. I also was nervous that it was from my new boyfriend, but then I read that it would take 3-6 months to show up on your blood igG test. I have only been with him 3 weeks so I'm so confused. My cousin who is in the health field said I should go back in 3 months and test again. I'm not an active sexual person, I suffer with depression and often I never feel up to having sex. I've only had four partners but my ex of 5 years had over 50 so I'm nervous I had it from him but it just now surfaced? Please give me advice on what I should do. My doctor is new to me and doesn't seem very professional. I don't know what's going on. My igm was positive too but I've been told from these forums to ignore that completely and that it shouldn't of even been given. What should I do? Why do I have all of these viruses all of a sudden? What is an expert opinion on this? I feel I should go to a gynecologist because my doctor wasn't very knowledgable when it comes to this. Also, I've never had a cold sore or symptoms of either herpes in my life.

Hi also, it doesnot appear as the doctor is professional telling you your positive for hsv1 and your not. Other than the other ailements your having, for the herpes issue all you can do is retest to rule out the false positive for the hsv2. You can retest at 8 weeks as would be a good indicator. It would appear that your vaginal sores would be more from having your period than herpes.

I also feel that the fever and fatigue is from mono. As I still have it, and haven't taken my steriod pills and continue to feel sluggish. The sores/pimples/whatever have gone away, and I can urinate and it's not painful, but it's weird feeling when I try to urinate. I bled heavily for quite awhile too, usually my period lasts 5 days, this time it lasted 11 and was heavy for quite sometime. I wonder if the garderella is gone now. I wonder why all of this pops up at once. Mononucleosis, garderella, heavy period, and possible herpes 1 and 2 infection with a positive herpes 2 igG test. Dang.

He said he tested for stds and they came back negative but didn't show me the results. So now, I'm telling him he needs to have the type specific blood tests. I told him I wanted to see the results, so I'm waiting on him. Unfortunately, I'm going to wait 12 weeks and test again as well. I'm praying that it comes back negative. As for the HSV 1 I have never had a cold sore, and according to the paperwork I received it says I'm negative for it, yet they told me I was positive for it before I picked up my paperwork? They aren't helping with my anxiety. The HSV 2 said 2.05 and the positive range was over 1.10 according to it. I'm very very scared and really regretting my decision. Is it too early for me to do western blot test?

You need to continue to follow up here. There does appear to be the possibility that you have herpes or at the very least the possibility needs to be eliminated.

You must first ask your new boyfriend to test for all STDs and explicitly request a blood test for IgG antibodies type specific for HSV1 and HSV2. No more sex until he agrees to this and shows you the results. This will help you immeasurably with your own diagnosis.

Your testing is very early on post possible infection. The 2.05 result could be indicate a recent infection or you just happen to test in the low range and be infected. Of course the other possibility exists that it is a false positive. Whist the IgM is not reliable, a positive at least indicates the need for further IgG testing. I agree that you need to follow up with testing about 12 weeks from now for confirmation.
