Tested positive for hsv wondering if my symtoms point toward something else
Someone please help me? So I tested positive with 2.0 on igm blood test 13 days after an oral exposure both gave and recieved oral sex. I took 2000mg of zpak that didn't help at all. I have very slight irritation at the tip of my urethra that's been there for 2 weeks. Ive taken valtrex for a few days now with no improvement or worsenine of symtoms. Most of my pain is intrenal. It's been 20 days since exposure and haven't had any blister or lesions. A few red spots that come and go around penis but I'm very pale and these spots don't itch or burn. Anyways I've had testical pain for many days that started about 9 days after exposure. I also have a pain that goes from under my belly button that's seams to shoot through my torso and hurt near my anus. My lymphnodes seem sore as well. I took a urin culture that came up negative but Ive read that cultures don't always pick prostatitis so Could this be prostatitis? Or are these fairly common herpes symtoms as well?
Stihlguy, different antibiotics treat different bacteria strains. There are many different bacteria that can cause NGU from strep to normal mouth bacteria. It can take a few try's

Gotcha. I appreciate the clarification. I'll ask the doctor about it when I get back in. Thanks everyone for the help.
NGU is not easily diagnosed and sometimes they treat for ngu as a last resort. The valtrex isn't helping because this isn't herpes related.

On more thing here I took 2000mg of azithromycin (zpak) wouldn't that have taken care of a ngu?
Id have a id start by having a urine test for a UTI, then treat what could be the beginning of balantis from the antibiotic

Yeah I'm not sure whats going on. I've been on valtrex for 5 days and nothing has really changed.
And the irritation around my urethra has probably been there for 15 days and hasn't changed.
Sorry to keep adding comments. I noticed I already stated about the valtrex. Why wouldn't the culture pick up bacteria of an ngu and wouldn't the irritation at the tip of my urethra was there before taking the zpack
They were never able to grow my bacteria either. It took three rounds of antibiotics to cure mine with my last antibiotic being lexofloxcian 750 for 10 days

Prostatis will usually show blood in urine and you will have pain when defecating, extreme. At least I did. Mine started as a UTI. Also my sperm looked like cottage cheese. I don't think the IGM can show which strain you have?
