Throat Lesions and Genital Herpes

Approx. 12 yrs ago I was diagnosed with genital herpes, I have always been faithful to my husband and don't understand how this happened. My husband and I have had several discussions about this. We are wondering if He could have given HSV-2  to me. Twice between the time we met 19 yrs ago and the time I was diagnosed he had severe blister lesions in his throat and was wondering if perhaps he may have HSV-2 in his throat. He has had this outbreak 3 times in 25 yrs. the outbreaks are so severe he can't swallow at all and has to use viscous lidocaine to gargle with in order to function.

What did u find out about u'r hubby's throat lesions??????  Has a dr. diagnosed it as part of his herpes symptoms?

SEE.................. I have had the SAME experience. In the way that my EX-fiance' has chronic throat lesions!  Hell, they even tried telling him it was throat cancer. ;(  But, in the end i'm somewhat firm in the research i've been doing that it IS part of his herpes infection. One of which he passed along 2 me......

Take care

Thank you for your input, we will definitly get blood tests. All the doctors ever told my husband was that the throat lesions were viral and had to run their course. Thank you again.

If either of you had partners prior to each other, either of you could've had herpes and never knew it.

At this point I'm going to assume that you never had your herpes typed. Most likely 12 years ago it was just a oh it's herpes and since it's below the waist it must be hsv2 and see ya later.  At this point both you and your hubby need to get type specific herpes igg blood tests to see who has what and then go from there. Most likely at this point you both have whichever type it is you have so it won't answer the who had it first question but at least then you'll know who has what question.

Has your hubby ever seen an ENT specialist for his throat issue? It could be due to herpes but it's more likely to be from a sinusitis or gerd or something along those lines.
