Very confused

I started to have some dryness and cracking on my penis in the tissue folds which would come and go. I had sex though protected 11 days ago and after about 4 days the folds got some red bumps along and a few under my penis by my scrotum. Some itching no drainage.I had blood work done which I ordered online thru Lab Corp which came back HSV 1 Igc type specific negative, HSV Igc 2 type specific also negative. My HSV,Igm I/II combination came back high at 1.72.Trying to figure it out I saw a arnp who said it looked like gonnoreha to him and gave me a shot of rocephin I did not have the results yet. I am now very confused I had a cold a couple of weeks ago and lyme disease last September can this play into my results. Thanks for your input.

herpes igm testing is greatly flawed testing. we don't recommend its use on adults currently.

repeat your herpes igg blood testing 3 months post encounter for more accurate answers just to err on the side of caution.

Thank You!!! My next question is to disreguard 1.72 high reading on the HSV, Igm combination I/II. Will an otc antifungal cream work or do I need prescription strength? Thanks

it's unfortunate that the provider you saw guessed gonorrhea ( why I have no idea since you had no painful discharge ) and treated you without waiting for test results to come back :(  since the sex you had was protected, you weren't at risk for gonorrhea anyways.

this sounds more like a fungal infection than it does a std.   you might want to just try an otc antifungal cream twice a day for a week or two and see if that helps. if it doesn't, follow up again with a medical provider.
