herpes?

So I had an encounter with a female about a month ago. About 3-4 days after I started experiencing body changes. Slight numbness in the genitals. Itching on my thighs here n there. A white tounge. Even the roof of my mouth felt a little different. I also noticed my urination flow has changed it doesn't start the same as it used to and sometimes I cannot control the speed of the urine. I was also noticing itching on my scphincter but now that's gone. At one point I had terrible right lower back pain so bad I went to the er. I could feel my glands on the right side of my genital area r swollen. I mentioned to the doctor that I thought it might be an std and preferably herpes. He told me Tthat my symptoms did not match. Said I must have stained a muscle. The back pain has been gone for awhile but the urination is still odd and the white tongue is also gone but I still can tell the right side glands are swollen. Been to the er twice already for this and they refused to do blood work because they said if I've had chicken pox or even a slight cold sore that it would test positive. I've had no sores of my knowledge. What could this be? I plan on going to the clinic Tuesday because that's when they do STD stuff.

If you want to get a test that differentiates between HSV 1 (cold sores) and HSV 2 (genital herpes) you can ask for one. It is called a type specific blood test that differentiates between these two types. You will need to ask your provider how long you have to wait after an encounter before getting tested. One brand, Herpeselect type specific Igg gives an index value for each hsv 1 & 2. Anything over 1.1 is positive. Be aware that if you have an index value under 3.5 it might be good to get re-tested with a different brand of test as sometimes index values between 1.1-3.5 can be false positive. Your symptoms don't sound like herpes but it might be good to ask for a full STD panel from someone knowledgable just for your own information and peace of mind.
