asymptomatic type-2 HSV result

I was recently informed that I have tested positive for type-2 herpes after having been tested by my local sexual health clinic... the doctor asked me if i had ever had symptoms i informed her i had not and she told me not to worry about it and hung up.  I would like to know if i can transmit it to someone else who could then have symptoms and if i could in the future have outbreaks.
thank you

I also encourage you to watch the patient counseling video and read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com. Both are terrific resources to learn more about herpes.

definitely get a copy of your blood test results and post their numeric results here for further help - ie hsv1 igg 5. 8 and hsv2 igg 1. 5 or whatever they are.

I would find out what kind of test you had and what your numerical value was.  Make sure you had a type specific, IgG test.  Also, if you had a low positive result, it would be worth it to get retested since sometimes low numerical values are false positive, especially if you are positive for HSV-1.
Good luck,

yes to all your concerns - you can transmit it without having symptoms, your partner could experience symptoms even if you haven't (since everyone's body reacts differently), and even if you haven't experienced any symptoms yet, it's possible you could in the future.
it's just that vague..
