burning inside tip of penis

a little over a month ago, i had unprotected sex with a female who approximately 2 weeks later was diagnosed as having HSV2.  i still haven't presented with any of the obvious symptoms such as bumps or warts on my penis, but i've experienced an on-again off-again burning sensation just inside of the tip of my penis.  most of the time i would say it's simply irritating, though for a day or two about a week ago it did move up to what i would call painful.  i went to the doctor on the second "painful" day and he ran blood tests for herpes, chlamydia and gonorrhea, all of which came back negative, and he also did a urine analysis, which came back clean.  after seeing my doctor, over the holiday weekend, i pulled the tip of my penis apart and looked in (it hadn't occurred to me to do this prior for some reason) and saw what looked like might've been a cold sore type wound about 1/4 of an inch inside.  i couldn't really get a very good look at it, but it appeared grayish.  the area immediately around it didn't appear to be any more red than the nearby skin.  i had actually assumed it had healed up and was going away because over the past weekend, it didn't bother me at all, but then suddenly today the burning sensation has come back again (to irritating level, not painful).  i haven't had any sexual activity since october 30, which was when i slept with the girl that turned out to have herpes.

i realize that a blood test for herpes can come back with a false negative if done too soon.  my blood test was done approximately 4 1/2 weeks after the exposure, but am i wrong in thinking that, since i had this sore (assuming it is herpes) for a full week prior to testing, wouldn't i have developed antibodies by then?  also, why would the burning go away for upwards of 3 days and then return?  any thoughts/suggestions are welcome and appreciated.  thanks.

How  much stress are you under because of this, seriously, do you tend to focus on the area in question? Does it seem like your mind concentrates at this area non stop agrivating any sensation that MAY occur normally? just asking.

I remember a while back after ejaculation I felt very very uncomfortable in the perineum area (between the testicles and anus) a hot/sore pressure feeling, very noticeable to me.  But only after ejaculation. I assumed it was due to hsv but from what I have read it could have been a prostate issue since Hsv does not give you that sporadic symptom in such a way.

For those that have the burning sensation in the thighs as well as the penis. I am also wondering if Post Herpetic Nuralgia can be the cause of this. Realizing his virus lives in the ganglia nerve as it moves around it causes these sensations. That would be a main reason why anitbiotics don't work because the pain and discomort is real.

Has anyone seen an infectious disease doctor? Most doctors will tell you that herpes does not act liek this ...it is most related to shingles....but doesn't it make sense. Unfortunately for me the pain keeps getting worse.

I had looked into this months ago and yes the symptoms are there. I was wonder did you have any disomfort with irritated skin in your penis? For  me I had some and it was around the meatus or urethal opening to the underside which would indicate irritation from the dripping. This does makes sense an I do believe anxiety has driven way to much of this. Iguess what is scarry is how we all have the similar symptoms but we all have had anxiety, most if not all have tested negative. I think what we all struggle with is the uncertainty.

Thanks for the great information!

OttMar,

As you mentioned...  we may of had an infection and then it triggered CPPS via anxiety or other means.

As I learn more about CPPS, I seem to think a bunch of us on this site have it.

CPPS is caused by the pelvic floor muscles (perinium area and others) tensing up due to stress and anxiety.  As these muscles contract and don't relax, they can cause the following:

Pain in the back
tingling in the upper thighs and groin
pain in the penis, either the base or tip are most common
painful urination
weakened urine flow
inconstinence (dribbling)
pain in the abdomen

And as they list the causes....

you will find "sexual encouter attached to high anxiety"

Kind of fits the bill for most of us.

I've gotten to a point where I can try and relax mentally, use some deep breathing, and it I feel either the tingling or burning in the tip coming on, it relaxes it.

I had a good spell of 3 weeks with no symptoms, then out of nowhere, had 4 days of discomfort.  It passed and now I'm back to trying to keep anxiety down with periods of relaxation and some basic external massage that the book "A Headache in the Pelvis" explains.

For severe cases of CPPS, the "Stanford Protocol" calls for internal massage.

I really don't enjoy haveing my prostate checked, let alone some of the methods they use in this book...  but if I seriously regress, would consider treatment.  Seems there are trigger points internal and external that can cause all of the symptoms we have experienced.  I'm still improving with time and what I'm doing now, so I'm going to hold off on any further steps and see how it goes.

It's too bad there is very little known about CPPS, but DR Wise seems to have figured out a cure for it.  This isn't snake oil, it's a method that works.

I know now that my symptoms are anxiety driven, and I can control them and hopefully completly eliminate them.

I think most of us would be helped by reading Dr Wise's book "A Headache in the Pelvis."

Just reading about how Dr Wise went through the same kind of symptoms we have and eventually discovered a treatment is reasureing, but reading the exact symptoms I've had when I couldn't find a match to anything else medical was a complete relief.

I hope this helps you guys out.

I found the cheapest place to get the book was on Amazon.

Keep the faith!

Borat.

Yes even BJ can really mess us up. Ive heard  that sometimes urethral infections can go into a prostate and cause prostate infections which bring in a host of other less welcome symptoms that can be non specific. This can also lead or be CPPS. So even IF our origional infection is gone and if some people have no true STD we can have secondary infections resulting from the origional. Ive seen Med articles on this on more then a few sites and read up on some studies. If its bacterial and not treated wright or at all it can cause a whole host of issues. If its viral then good luck since we have no cure for any viral infections............................all from one BJ that gave us 5 mins of pleasure and months or years of greif and suffering.
