Do I have HSV2?

I recently had 2 sexual encounters with the same woman.   After the first encounter,  I got tested at 5 weeks.  We had a second encounter and I got tested again, 2 weeks after (which was 9 weeks after the first) .  Everything came back negative except HSV1, which I knew I had.   I did another test at 6 weeks after the second encounter and came back equivocal for HSV2 with and igg of 1.03.  I've read that number is inconsequential and doesn't mean any thing.   I've also been told that it is a positive result and the virus is in early stages of detection.   Should i be worried?

Ok,  so one week after last test,  now almost 7 weeks post exposure,  I'm at an HSV2 igG of 1.06.  I'm still concerned.   Any help please.

I would bet on a false positive given your low igg and the fact you already have type 1

Thank you,  that's what I'm hoping as well. The girl that i had seen got mad when i confronted her about it and now she's not taking to me at all.   I'm hoping that she does get tested and lets me know.   Otherwise i plan on repeating the test in a couple of days to see for sure.

Caveat/more to the story.....

My IGG numbers for the fisrt test were:
HSV1 - 28.1
HSV2 - <.90
second test
HSV1 24.7
HSV2 <.90
This latest test my numbers skyrocketed:
HSV1 31.3
HSV2 1.03

I've read that the agent they put into blood to detect the virus can cause fluctuations but what else can?  Since the HSV1 number was so much higher could there be a direct correlation as to why my HSV2 was high as well?

I don't think I've had any symptoms but I could be wrong,  I've heard symptoms could be "muted"  in an HSV1 positive person. The only concern I have is the "possible" symptom.   I had what i thought was folliculitis, small red dots in the hair line in my pubic region.   I felt it come on and it lasted about 5 days with no pustules, no oozing, or pain.  I had the same thing happen again about a month later (last week).  I've also had have a very sharp pain at the tip of my penis (underside just near my urethra opening) it feels like a paper cut and hurts when rubbed on.   There is no sign of anything and my skin looks normal, is been like that for about a week.  Also, on occasion,  I will get an itch in my urethra but will quickly go away and I have no pain or burning when urinating.  I don't know if it's because I've read so much about the symptoms that I'm giving then to myself or if they are actual symptoms.   This is why I was asking about the muted symptoms.  I had two negative results prior (one at 5 weeks from 1st exposure, two at 9 weeks from initial and almost 3 weeks from 2nd exposure).  This latest test is 14 weeks 3 days from 1st exposure and 5 weeks 4 days from second.

I've also been doing a lot of reading in herpes forums about this situation,  HOWEVER, no results are as low as mine.   With all questions about this the IGG levels were into the positive results category,  over 1.1.  After reading further, a definite positive is over 3.5 anything between 1.1 and 3.5 could be a false positive with the likelihood of it being a false positive greater the closer to 1.1 you are.   BUT it's only been 5 weeks since second contact and some people say that's not enough time for seroconversion.  I had the HerpeSelect Elisa test done which says that 4-6 weeks results are 95-97% accurate.  Is it possible that is still a false positive.   I'm concerned.

Hsv2 tests are very sensitive and can sometimes pick up hsv1 protiens and coonfuse them for type 2. I think that is what is happening to you

Thank you for the answer.  After doing a lot of reading throughout this forum I hope I've received a false positive,  although none of the results I've seen are in the "equivocal" range and as low add mine.   They are all in the positive or over 1.1 and with most of those is hit or miss.

To add to this,  she swears she is negative and is getting another test done to confirm.   How likely is it,  prior to funding out her status,  that I'm actually positive?
