the site nutruitiondata.com list hot chocolate with cocoa as higher in lysine than agrinne. But, ************* says to avoid cocoa due to its high agrinne content. Should drinks with cocoa be avoided during a herpes outbreak? thanks.

Chocolate definately causes heroes uitbreaks for me. I totally LOVE chocolate but I hardley ever eat it anymore to ensure I wont suffer an outbreak. Stupid me ate some( more than the usual 1tiny piece) and now I have a severe uitbreak on a new part of my genitals. I am so annoyed I ate that chocolate now.

I agree with Grace on this,I certainly didn't lay anything on what I read about it.Herpes being a very unpredictable condition it will every now and then behave differently in one person to what it does in others.

I sure as heck won't be giving up my chocolate lol

The lysine/arginine theory never held up outside of the lab. unless you've identified a certain product/food group as being a definite trigger for you ( food diaries and elimination ), no reason to avoid any food groups because of herpes!!!  very few folks have food triggers for genital herpes.

I honestly don't know I have read that ordinary chocolate can trigger an outbreak so I imagine hot chocolate would be the same.
I don't want to be quoted on this though because I haven't looked into it much it was just something I vaguely remember reading about one time.
