confused

i recently had what i believed to be a yeast infection but i wasn't sure so i called my doctor. i told the lady that answered the phone all of my symptoms(swelling, itchiness, discharge) and included that i had razor burn because i read that herpes is sometimes confused for that. she called back and said the doctor wanted to see me so i went in the next morning. she examined me and told me that it did not look like herpes at all because there were no sores and that she was 90% sure it was razor burn, so i was relieved of course. she cultured my discharge to send it away and also did a test in the room where she rubbed the swab on a piece of orange paper(she said if it turned yellow yeast was the problem or if it turned bluish/green bacteria was the problem). it turned a green color so she prescribed me a gel to insert once a night for 5 days. now here comes the confusion, the so called razor burn was located on the left side where i shave (close to my lips, you actually had to move my lips over to see it) and now its located on the other side? so obviously it wasn't razor burn because that doesn't spread. does this sound like it could in fact be genital herpes?

My advice to you is to get offline and stop reading. You are just adding to your anxiety about all this.

After this is all cleared up, I recommend that you and your partner talk about going together for full std testing as well as herpes blood testing so that in the future, your mind doesn't get the best of you when things like this happen.

i got a call from my doctor's office today saying that the discharge that they sent to the lab grew yeast so she prescribed me diflucan. so i have a yeast infection as well as a bacterial infection. weird? as for the cuts, they appeared on the other side now (they're on the outside where i shave but closer to the base lips where there is little or no hair) would genital herpes do that? start on one side get better and then appear on the other? i've been with the same person for 3 years now and we don't cheat on each other. i had something like this before, called my doctors office and the lady just told me to put in monistat. i thought i read that genital herpes stays on one side, can yeast infections cause "paper cuts"? i've been stretching and throughly examining down there looking to see if any blisters/sores popped up but nothing at all. my doctor said she was 90% it wasn't herpes but the only reason i'm so concerned is because i keep reading these stories how peoples outbreaks are only cuts.

Bacterial infections can also cause rashes. The best thing to do is to talk to your provider tomorrow and see if they want you to come back in and be seen.
