equivocal HSV2 result

Hi there, any information & advice would really help.

I am a 22 year old male. I am quite sexually active both protected/non-protected but usually always protected. I have always had HSV1, getting cold sores since a young age, but very mild ones, possibly 1 to 2 times a year and small ones.  Last year on the 14th of November - I went for a full STD check including IGG bloods for both HSV1 & HSV2 and the results came back positive for HSV1 & negative for HSV2. However recently on the 12th of March I went for another full STI check & blood tests, because I was experiencing a greenish discharge which I thought was Chylamdia. I had a urine sample taken & a swab however the results came back negative for everything & my IGG blood results came back positive for HSV1 & equivocal for HSV2. I have not experienced any lesions/cuts or blisters on my genitals however there has been an itch/burning/tingling sensation in my pubic area & inner groin, which I think could just be related to my intense anxiety over this situation, I am not sure.
After getting my equivocal results back my doctor said I should retest in next 4 months just incase it was an early infection or a mistake. After this confusing result my mind has been all over the place & I have been so anxious.

I decided to see another doctor as this discharge was still continuing & he said it was urethritis & prescribed me doxylin for 10 days which cleared everything up. He also told me that IGG blood tests are not so accurate & the best way to diagnose herpes is through a swab if there is a lesion present & told me not to worry & just try put this all behind me because how mentally straining this all is.

However I cannot stop over obsessing about this. It has now nearly been a month and i have not experienced any pain, lesions, cuts or blisters on my genitals just sometimes a bit of an itch and a burning/tingling sensation around my pubic area & inner groin.

What are the chances this is herpes?
What is the chance of my equivocal result going negative?

Thank you for reading this & your time.

I would seriously consider the igg, or if this pimple thing you talk about come up... go to the doctor with in 2 days as soon as possible and get it cultured... for the most accurate diagnosis

So a pimple usually goes to a blister within a few days pops and leave an open sore which crust and heals. This usually takes a week. If it comes and goes in less then a week it is not herpes. It is a pimple/ blister on top of the skin. It will leak clear liquid which is very contagious and can spread to other part of the body

Additionally tingling/ itching is not herpes unless blister show up. If it last more then 3 days without blister it is not herpes but rather anxiety. I would go onto the western heights site and read their hand book also I would search for Dr. HHH advice on other forms, he is well informed and some information that you are seeking can be found there.

First I don’t think the discharge is from herpes but if every well could be since Herpes can cause penile discharge (but rare- w/o other symptoms I believe) be. IgG for HSV 2is about 97% accurate. Since it is equivocal you could not be infected. It is recommended to test 12-16 weeks with igg after last sexual encounter. Since igg is very accurate for hsv usually people don’t get confirmation testing after 12-16 weeks of positive, hsv 1 is different. If you want the golden standard there is a western heights blood test which is seen as the golden standard but I believe it is the best at picking up hsv 1. I would ease my worries if there isn’t blister yet, BUT I would 100% not have sex for 12-16 weeks from last encounter and then get another igg blood test!
