first outbreak

I've been tested for herpes and I still waiting for the results. I am unsure how or when I could have gotten this, but I am almost certain I have. In the last four days I went from red pus filled bumps, to open sores that pus comes out of, until swelling to the point that,my period has stopped. It's very painful and my lymph nods have started swelling since last night. I've tried keeping the area clean and soaking in warm baths. Can anyone help me in trying to subside the pain and discomfort until I hear back from my doctor. I've been unable to sleep or really function. I can accept having it, I just need to figure out how to soothe the pain.

typically herpes lesions do not contain pus. did they also do bacterial cultures on your lesions?

there are many topical anesthetics out there you can also consider for pain control.  dermoplast spray ( the blue can for the genital area, not the red can ) is usually available for under $10 at most drug stores if you are in the US.

I believe anything worth its salt would be prescription.  I would call your doctor and explain your symptoms.  It is clear you have herpes.  Your doctor might not want to send over the Valacyclovir pills to control the herpes virus until he/she gets the results back, but there are prescription creams for herpes.
