ghsv2 - never ending outbreak???
I was diagnosed with genital hsv2 about 3 months ago through PP. The initial outbreak was almost over when I was tested so I don't know if the acyclovir aided in clearing it up or not. I was told to take it 3x a day whenever I first notice symptoms and continue for 7-10 days, longer if it isn't cleared up yet. I've had at least 2 more outbreaks in the same spot since then and been taking the acyclovir for about a month straight right now. This latest sore won't go away and the itching of my ENTIRE genital area is driving me insane! I'm using lidocaine hydrochloride jelly 2% but the relief is minimal and I'm up all night from it. Does anyone else have ongoing outbreaks like this? Is there anything else I can do (with no insurance and very little money) to get relief besides acyclovir and the lidocaine jelly?

Yes, it's been over two weeks. I was diagnosed by swabbing the area with HSV2. BV has been common for me since I started dealing with the FM a few years ago. Could be that too I suppose. Docs also think I might have early lupus at this point but I can't get testing done right now. I don't think I have a yeast infection but I'm allergic to azoles (like diflucan, fluconazole) so they're very hard to treat if I do get them. :/

also if everything is itchy down yonder, you should be seen again and get tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too. bv especially often occurs without obvious discharge and can make herpes linger too.
has this last lesion been there more than 2 weeks?
how were you originally diagnosed? do you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally?
when you have recurrences, the dose of acyclovir is 400mg 3x/day for 5 days or the even easier 800mg 3x/day for 2 days.
