hello i have a question i tested positive on a non specific herpes test and without knowin the type i took antiviral famivir and i tested again after 1 month andthe result was negative for both types.

can famivir suppress the antibody to a level that it produce a negative test result?
i asked a doctor he said once you develop antibodies they stay life long medication does not suppress the antibodies they just inhabit the viral replication.

sorry but I can not help you with that test. it's not one of the ones of which I'm familiar with the false negative/false positive rates of to feel comfortable commenting on.

in india we dont get tests that are fda approved but the test was a type specific test that showe both test results seperate.
hsv 1 was 30.9 eu/ml and hsv 2 was 36.4 eu/ml
ref values are
negative below 58 eu/ml
equivocal 58 to 70 eu/ml
positive above 70 eu/ml.

thank you so much grace for ur help.

a 10 day course of famvir won't affect your blood test results.

when you repeated your test, was it a type specific test?
