you can't make educated decisions about what precautions to take until you know who has what. You both need type specific herpes igg blood testing as petal already said to see who has what. It's not always hsv2 just because it's genital and most folks who have herpes, have no idea they are infected until they are tested. If your regular providers won't do the right igg blood testing for you both, if you are in the US you can order it up yourselves through an online testing company like tstd.org or healthcheckusa.com.
Once you know who has what, you can make the decisions you need to be making :)
Sounds like you both need proper blood testing as you can't make educated decisions otherwise without knowing who has what.
Request an IgG type specific blood test and let us know the results once you both have them.
i was never told i was just told i had genital herpes, and no she went to the doctor and was told she didn't need to be tested.
do you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally?
has your partner been tested yet to know her status?
grace
so she will not end up with it?
i had a really severe first outbreak and ended up in hospital and had tests done and stuff.
i'm not on any medication, my doctor told me to only take medicine for it at times of an outbreak.
The risk is low in this case. No symptoms means your only risk is really the shedding and the stomach is a little tougher than our genital skin. How were you diagnoised and are you on daily suppresive therapy?
