herpes or not

Hi I'm worrying myslef way too much right now. I had an outbreak of pimples in my pubic area in december of last year and thought nothing of it. I later found out the person I was with had sex with someone else but she never showed any signs of herpes. Once again starting last Thursday I noticed a few pimples with red outlines and white tips in my pubic area. The rash began to spread over the weekend to my whole pubic area, inner thighs, shaft, and head of my penis. The rash did not itch , was not sore, and did not discrete fluid of any kind. I applied hydrocortison to the affexted areas and Sunday the rash started to recede, first it left my thighs and most of it left my penis. Now I have the rash in my pubic area and very little on my penis, still no itching burning or soreness. Someof the pimples turned to flaky skin, I suspected this to be from the 2.5% hydrocortisone cream but I am worried. I am seeing a doctor tomorrow and she is getting bloodtests done but I want some opinions now. What do you think?

So we got the blood tests back shes doesnt have herpes or hpv. There is still no itching and no pain. Ive been told by a doctor that its neither hpv nor herpes, yet i still cant help but worry myself. People i have talked to tell me this is nothing like herpes/ would you agree?

it would be unusual for molluscum to show up in december, go away and now be back again.

if this goes away and comes back a 3rd time, perhaps a biopsy would be more helpful if they think that it's still molluscum then.

molluscum is pretty contagious. make sure you read on the web what you should be doing precaution wise if they didn't give you a pamphlet on it at the clinic.

thanks for the reply. Heres an update i went to the doctor today for a visual examination. Two doctors came and took a look both concluded HPV and genital herpes were not to blame. The one doctor seemed pretty confident that it was molluscum contagiosum(SP?) Im still not 100% convinced thats what it is. They say the marks can last for months but the appear to be diminishing. im going to a follow up in a week but if anyone else has any advice id appreciate it thanks.

odds are this isn't herpes going on but obviously something is going on so it's best to follow up properly with your provider. I'd stop with the topical steroid at this point so that they get a better idea of what is going on.
