herpes transmission to eye

I was recently diagnosed with hsv2 and have been taking valtrex 500mg daily. The other day i was in a rush  and running late to go out to dinner and went to the bathroom and did not wash my hands. In the car my boyfriend had something in his eye and could not get it out and asked me too. i wasnt thinking and got it out for him.
I currently do not have any open sores and am pretty sure there was no direct contact with my hand because of toilet paper etc. is it possible it could be transmitted to his eye??

I assume he's been tested to know his own status too?

what testing did you have done originally too?

not washing your hands after using the bathroom isn't a risk for spreading herpes.
