IgG result of 3.15-Scared and Confused
I had a sexual encounter with someone about 7 weeks ago where he tried to have unprotected sex. However, after some possible exchange of body fluids, the next day I had a weird rash on my lip...it wasn't very noticeable at all, unless I had to sit in light and clearly show someone.
Fast forward to last Tuesday, after going to the bathroom I noticed a bump around my vaginal area. The next day I went to the urgent care and told the physician's assistant. There was no pain during urination or anything and he said he thinks it was a hair follicle but said I should do a herpes blood test still...I did the test and the next day the bump disappeared.
This Monday, I received a call from the PA saying my HSV2 test was positive, but HSV1 negative. I asked what that meant..he said i tested positive for antibodies which meant i had herpes...i kept saying i don't understand and he was very short and somewhat rude...that same night, I noticed some small red spots around my anal area. They aren't painful, and when I strain like going to do a bowel movement then I can see a little more red. I have not seen any crusting or experienced any pain when passing stool. I do know that I tend to have hemorrhoids once or twice a year, and it usually is after passing a harder stool or wiping extra hard.
I don't know if this is a start of hemorrhoids or a herpes blister. I called my ob-gyn but can't see him until Monday and today is Wednesday. Any suggestions or hope?? Even though it's in the low positive range of <3.5, it's still on the high end of the low positives. I have no pain though and no "crusting" or anything of these bumps I noticed. I also tend to worry and overprocess things and have been told that if it was anything herpes-related, it wouldn't disappear the next day or be non-painful. Also, there are no painful bowl movements.

your anal symptoms don't sound herpes related at all.
if you can be seen by your regular gyn today or tomorrow, I'd try to follow up there.

I should also note that, in almost the same spot where I originally noticed the bump that led me to the urgent care 2 weeks ago, I noticed a crack of skin, almost like a cut myself...at first it itched (very slightly), but there is no pain to touch or when urinating...does this mean that I definitely have herpes?

Do you have some general symptoms for anal herpes?? I'm still just concerned...I still noticed the red spots when straining (like trying to pass a bowel movement) in my anal area...but I've had no pain, nothing that crusts, no painful bowel movements, etc...I'm just still concerned that it may be a mild version of some sort of herpes...

ok thank you very much. so basically getting tested again by my doctor is pointless because it's under the correct time? do you know what the percentage is for false positives if you receive a 3.15? That seemed very high to me, even for the low positive range. I don't know if I'm creating these scenarios of outbreaks based on anything I notice or if it is really one. As I stated there is no pain experienced at all and that seems to be one thing everyone tells me I should be experiencing. Thanks.
your hsv2 igg is a low positive and will need confirmed with further testing. you have to wait for 4 months post encounter to pass and then you can seek out a herpes WB blood test. how to get the WB done is explained in our read before posting post on the forum.
labcorp does the captia igg which is a good test but still has the same false positive issues as other igg blood tests do.

Sorry I posted it in my title and thought that was sufficient...the hsv1 simply said <0.91 and the hsv2 was 3.15. They tested for all other std's, which came back non-reactive.
He didn't test for any yeast infection or bacterial infection at all. the PA in my opinion had no bedside manner and was somewhat curt. Even as he looked at the vaginal area and said he thought it was folliculitis and didn't see a need to test it, he felt like it wasn't herpes, but then comes back with the test results. There is nothing on the printout from Labcorp that they emailed me that says what TYPE of test it was (ELISA, HErpesSelect,etc.) but I thought I read somewhere in my research that labcorp usually uses the ELISA...I can't find where I found that now though. Sorry for the insufficient info.

I can best help you with your herpes testing is you can get the exact results to post here - e.g. hsv 1 igg 5.4 and hsv2 igg 5.2 or whatever they are. that way I can be sure that you were properly tested and see if you need additional confirmatory testing done or not.

you can usually feel hemorrhoids and/or see them with a mirror. these anal area symptoms do not sound like herpes going on.
