is my HSV-2 result Conclusive?

Hello Terri,
I am a 27 year old male, had a protect sex with a lady at a korean massage center on Dec7th ( as of today its 12 weeks and 4 days past). (she gave me oral for 5 minutes and i didn't had sex more than 2 minutes) Exactly on the 13th day of encounter i had a severe dehyrdation and starting drinking more water and which resulted in frequent urination. I had burning sension while urinating and it was yellowish in colour. This was for one whole night. But since this happend i got paranoid with HIV and did some testing and found no HIV.
But for the last two weeks, i am having throat discomfot and so i went to my GP, i told him lets do a full STD test. he agreed and he physically examined and said no rash, no oral thrush, no bumps.
Later after 2 days he called me and asked me to come over. The shock for me was HSV-2 came positive whereas the rest all the tests are negative and he prescribed me Valtrax. But till now i dont have any rash or no outbreaks or nothing in my body.
I went through lot of your post in medhelp and read about the false Positives and details about the WB blood test. Below are my Igg values.

HSV-1 = 0.9 / HSV-2 = 1.40
and this was a was regular test based on Glycoprotien, not WB or elisa and when i asked if we can do a WB he said it is only for HIV

So i would please need your suggestions on the below

1) Is it really a low positive? if so what is the chance of this turning to be a false positive or what is the chance of i m being an HSV-2 carrier?
2) Is the glyco portien test result definite if it is taken at the end of 12 week of what could have been a possible exposure?
3) i m in atlanta, and do you know if anyone who does the WB and do you think i need to do this?

Really scared and gettign paranoid, would definitely loooking for your help on this. please.

Regards
gowtham

This is indeed a low positive HSV 2 result, and I am going to recommend a western blot.  We can provide you with help getting one in Atlanta for certain.  When you do your phone consult at my office, they will get that all set up for you!  However, I would honestly suggest that you wait to get the final test at 16 weeks.  The low positive could be present because it is a false positive or it could be because you are in the process of seroconverting.  That is why I want you to wait until 16 weeks have passed, but you could certainly do the consult now and schedule the test for later.

in the result that i have got. It is mentioned as Page 2 of 4 (at the top left hand side close to the Quest diagnostics logo). So it means i missing the page 1 2 and 3.

That is what i meant.

Yes, at 16 weeks, you can count on these results.  you are negative.

in terms of the results from my clinic:  The western blot is a one page result, not a multiple page result.  I'm not sure what you are talking about with pages 1,2 and 3.

Hello Terri,

WB - Negative.

After 16 weeks post what could have been the possible exposure On may 31st gave the blood at quest diagnostics, and Dr Lisa from your Hospital called me on 11th with a Negative result.

I m looking answers for two questions.

1. This test was taken post 16 weeks and 2 days - I can take this 100% and move on right? I haven't got any symptoms till now and never took any medicines.

2) i asked to send the results from your hospital, but i have got only the 2nd page of the 4 page result. Should i need the other 3 pages also (page 1,2 and 3).  I need this since i wanted to show my Dr here.

Thank you for all the support and information you provide here. Your help have added lot of value in my life. thanks a lot terri. Please help me with the answers for the two questions alone. :) thanks again

If this was your first sexual encounter and it was protected, then the chances that you have herpes are statistically so tiny!!

Let's see what we get.

I'm glad that Dr. Lisa was helpful for you.

Indeed, She had lot of patience to answer all my questions. Dr name was Lisa.

I understand from your point Teri. I m just trying to get my hopes. You know what. this is my first sexual activity in whole life and i m screwed my whole with this :(

Is it possible to get herpes with just a one time protected encounter (assuming the CSW worker is a HSV-2 positive? actually her status is unknown)

This would be my last question, i will pause my questions until Mar 31st. So please answer me on this.

When an index value is in that range, it is very difficult to know what to make of it, as we discussed.  I've had positives confirmed by western blot at 1.2 for an ELISA and an ELISA that was positive at 4.5 that was western blot negative.  This is not the exact science that everyone would like it to be, in terms of the positives.  Just wait for the western blot on March 31st.

I'm glad my staff was helpful and kind, that's great news for me.

Really thank for your reply terri.

I spoke to your clinic yesterday and i am going to do a WB on March 31st (on this day it will be 16 weeks and 2 days completion).
The Dr i spoke was very kind, nice and really helped me understand all the questions. They were very nice including the receptionist.

I missed to ask a question to them, however it may sound a bit stupid.

the question is, i mentioned on Dec19th i had burning sensation while urinating, and now it is literally close to 3 months. Considering if that is a symptom of HSV-2 i could have sero converted at that stage itself right? and my igg levels in the blood test should be more than 1.4 or it can be anything post the 12 week period?
