is this herpes

Dr you have answered my question regarfing HIV in the past as I have since teested neg at 6 weeks. My anxiety has now moved on to HSV2. I have been inspecting my area daily since the incident of unprotected sex and not knowing her history and last week a found a small black spot under my skin on the top psrt of my shaft. I picked and attempted to pop the mark only irritating the area. It turned red but never saw a bump blister, ulcer etc. No pain itching etc at the area either. It hurt a little in the shower but I noticed broken skin. I washed the area 3 x a day and used hydrocortizone as well. - noticed some tearing pain in the am as I had erections and about 5 days later the area scabbed over. The scabs were linear across the shaft probably rom the tearing. There were also the same shape small scabs above and below. I am wondering is 6.5 weeks after unprotected sex a little late for herpes to show up. Did I disrupt the infection or was it simply from my picking and prodding. Does herpes scab in a line shape. I had no pain, blisters sores etc the whole time. Is it normal for skin in this area to take this long to heal. I was pulling and scraping the skin with my nail for a few days and then left it alone to heal. I think anxiety is getting the best of me but its hard to think otherwise when I look down a see scabbing on my shaft. I attempted to ask you this question earlier today but my screen blanked out but medhelp did take my first twenty. This ones costing me 40. I will get a blood test done at 12 weeks. Thank you

I'm not clear about the details of that, but I would guess it is the same way you posted it to the other board.  Perhaps someone from MedHelp will see this and offer you advice.

Hi Terri, I had posted my qns on STD international. It seems like the money wasn't spend worthwhile as the doc didn't respond after my subsequent questions. How may I direct the qns to you instead?

First, if you feel you were overcharged for your request for information, please let MedHelp know.  They will most certainly be responsive to your request.

As for the question of HSV 2 - I do think it is very late after the exposure for herpes to show up for the first time, yes.  I'm thinking that maybe your attempt to pop the black mark really irritated the area and broke the skin and lead to more problems.  Do you think that is a possibility?  Herpes scabs are not normally linear, no, not in my experience.  Pulling and scraping the skin sounds quite disruptive and may definitely have contributed to this appearance that you describe.

You seem very worried indeed about this sexual contact.  I know you will follow up with testing at 12-16 weeks, and I hope that will put your mind at rest so you can have some peace with this.
