I don't know...I'm think I'm scared of catching it. I just checked my mouth and the abrasion, , tenderness, is completely gone. I really think that it was caused by brushing too hard with a firm toothbrush and a tarter control(abrasive) touthpaste. I read some more symtoms on the site and believe that a inital infection would not present itself like what I had. Its too much of a conincidence that after I switched brushes and changed to a milder toothbrush it is gone. And it was right underneath my tooth.on the gum..a place where I scrub with the toothbrush. Can you give me a rundown of the symtoms. Just in case....so I would know what to look for if I ever had a initial breakout orally. Does it always cause pain. I read on here that it takes heat and friction to spread oral HSV. So cheek kisses and quick pecks on the lips are safe. That is right, right? Also I think I read one post where someone said that its hard for an adult to catch HSV and harder for an adult to spread it without sores or lesions being present. Please confim this info. Thanks! :)
dating, not daing....lol. darn fingers are too tired today.
Anything that goes away that quickly isn't likely to be a newly acquired oral herpes infection.
Why are you letting a fear of hsv1 orally keep you from thoroughly enjoying kissing your bf? 2 years of daing and you've only kissed twice?
grace
I was tested and am negative. I think I was being a little crazy too. The irration went away the day after my dental cleaning and I never knew to use a hard toothbrush. Besides, my boyfriend has only kissed me twice(I'm not into deep kisses, I prefer pecks and snuggling). Grace, what is your opinion. Would it appear right below a tooth where the tooth line and gumline meet. Wouldn't it hurt and produce a fever. I only felt very minor pain when I brushed that area hard with my toothbrush.
By all that you've written, I think you're worrying WAY too much.
Typically oral herpes presents on the outside of the mouth (lip area). Having a sore gum is so incredibly common - I have excellent dental health and I can say at least a couple times a year I get minor irritation somewhere on my gum line.
Oral herpes affects about 70% of the adult population.
So, get tested if you truly want to know your herpes status. You may already have it and don't know... An IgG type specific blood test is what you would request. A swab/culture if you have a sore/lesion.
Keep in mind going forward, oral HSV-1 can be transmitted to the genitals via oral sex, even without an active outbreak.
As to autoinoculation, you would have to have herpes for that to even remotely happen (and it's a very rare occurrence).
