old or new exposure?

I had unpritected sex on 6/25 and went to my GYN on 7/5 to have them look at a couple bumps (non painful).  They said nothing suspicious but we did a culture on both anyway and both came back neg.  The blood test showed HSV2 antibodies with an igg of 5 or more.  Had second blood test done and igg was 1.01 and igm was 3.43.  I have never had an outbreak before.  GYN says my antibody count shows this to be an old exposure.....does that sound right...old exposure???

a round of antivirals to treat a cold sore wouldn't affect your WB.

HHi Grace,  question...still never had an OB of HSV2 genitally and am getting to order WB.  However, i did have an OB of HSV orally and my doctor gave me an RX for acyclivor.  Will that effect my WB?  Does taking antivirals have an effect of type specific tests?  If so, how?

have you been back to be seen again since you've had these new symptoms?  even if you do have genital herpes, it doesn't mean it's the cause of everything that goes on in your genital area.

Hi Grace, so now I am having irregular bleeding during sex and a very mild burning down there....what I would liken to a yeast infection burning on the skin down there kind of all over the moist areas down there. Are these symptoms of herpes outbreak?  I have never had an outbreak and I do think this could just be my paranoid brain pkaying tricks on me since i have been on the "crotch watch" checking and rechecking...i have tried to stop doing that...but i just can't help it.

perhaps tell him that you had some bumps in your genital area and went to your gyn who suggested herpes and then tested you for it. also let him know that you never knew that you were never tested for it before so your gyn can't tell if this is something you contracted from him or if it was something you had prior to meeting him?  to me it looks more suspicious to wait until you've had the WB to know for sure that you have to talk about this than it does to bring it up right away.  Your partner is supposed to be there for you to lean on during times like this, not someone you are afraid to talk to.

I'd definitely still get the WB just to err on the side of caution.

No...we are on rocky terms right now and telling him would mke him think i cheated and then he'd use my kids against me and all hell would break loose.  My first test was at quest with 5+ mu second test was at lab corp and igg was 3.43 and igm of 1.01.  Do u still think i should do WB test?  I mean if neither of us have had outbreak and been together this long....what are the odds he has it?

Thanks for the advise.  Imever sonce they told me the results.....i am hyper sensitive to every feeling do there and everyblittle twitcj send me running to the bathroom with a mirror.  I am obsessed with it.  I cant stop looming on the net and checking and rechecking myself.  I am afraid to have intercourse.   I feel like a ticking time bomb....which is ridiculous because i have beem married for 12 years and never given anything to my husband and had one indescretionary fling back in june....pathetic, i know....

the provider who said the WB was only for hiv testing was mistaken.

I think it's worth getting the WB since you've had no symptoms.

I askes for WB and the GayN told me that was for HIV.  Also...my error.  First test IGG was 5 or more, second test IGG was 3.43 and IMG was 1.01.  I had the IGG and IGM reversed in error.  Do you still think I should seek WB?

honestly I'd get a herpes WB blood test to confirm your status since it went from a clear positive to a negative just to err on the side of caution.

also yes, your igg being positive that quickly shows that it wasn't contracted during your encounter you listed.
