on Acyclovir 800mg 3x a day but lesions still present

My name is JJ;  Im 39 yrs old was divorced in 2009 (married for 5 yrs) and been dating after that (thru out my marriage, I was monogamous). I did not have any signs and symptoms of ANY HSV (herpes 1 or 2) thru out my life. I never even had a cold sore!I've been dating ever since then.

I met a girl in Sep 2011, I've been monogamous and have been having unprotected sex with her.
In October '11, I left to go to another country (for work) and STILL maintained my monogamous relationship (I thought SHE WAS THE ONE); came back after 2 weeks later. During the flight back, I developed sinus/cold symptoms, I just thought of the recycled air inside the plane. In the past, my sinus takes forever to get cleared and i have to take antibiotics for it.
In Dec '11 while I still have my sinus/cold problems, I DEVELOP BLISTERS(3-4 blisters) under the shaft of penis ! The VERY FIRST TIME EVER..! I've been having unprotected sex with my partner (we have sex ALOT) so I don't know if it was SKINBURN from too much sex. I told her about it but she said " I DO NOT CARE" cuz she said she "LOVED ME" (cuz I'm THE ONE----she wants to have a family with);  she even performed ORAL on me even tho lesions were present. I never saw any HSV 1 on her lips BOTH below the waist and on her mouth. But I visited my Dr and got swabbed and blood test just to make sure. 3 weeks later, the test came back POSITIVE HSV 2!

I couldn't believe it. So I asked for another blood test, it came back POSITIVE HSV 2! At this point, I don't know if I can trust her. I don't know if she cheated on me while I was gone or she had the virus the entire time but didn't tell me.

I left for work again (another plane ride) April 2012, I didn't develop a sinus/cold when I landed. But on my way back home (another plane ride) in May 2012, I develop sinus/cold/flu the very next day! Then 2 days after returning, prodome feeling on the shaft under my penis. The next day BLISTERS SHOWED UP (3-4 blisters) on the shaft of my penis where the 1st blister came!! WTF..!! I took Acyclovir 200my Dr gave me; I opt for the 800mg 3x a day for 2 days.

I've been reading thru posts, and if my body/immune system is weaken HSV 2 will come up. Its been the 3rd day of taking 800mg and my lesions (no more blisters but its just skin not healed) has not fully heal but it just burns/discomfort.

Do I need to continue the dose of 800mg? or tone it down to 400mg until lesion COMPLETELY HEAL? My Dr is a 29 y/o BEAUTIFUL FEMALE!! Its just embarrassing for her to keep looking at my JUNK!!! She is very nice and always has a smile. =)

I'm still distraught of having HSV 2 becuz I've been careful thru out my life time. I've been taking care of my self, having an active lifestyle (gym, beach, etc.) People think I'm 29 still but I'm 39 yrs old. So I'm doing good at it. But this virus really is a DOWNER (gets me depressed) becuz I DO WANT to start another family; its just embarrassing and also what may the other women may think of me or they may have second thoughts of being with me especially they do not have it.

Thanks for taking the time to read my lengthy post; but I just wanted to get some advice and hopefully others may read this and get some info for them as well.

**Grace, thanks so much for your previous posts. I've been reading them and got some good info. Keep up the GOOD WORK!! Thank you once again.

JJ

you already asked the question and already got an answer.

if you are concerned, see your provider monday for a proper exam.  if they suspect oral herpes, they can do a pcr swab of the area.

Grace, as my previous post re: the twitch for the past 3 days on my upper lip. Now, I see a RED MARK on my upper lip on the same side as the twitch. I just finished ALL my Acyclovir meds. At this point, should I ask for daily Acylcovir treatment to suppress it?

Talking about from NO BREAKOUTS to this...! This virus is really stressful! thanks again for putting up with my questions. Keep up the GREAT WORK!

I just now remember, she did tell me before her ex-husband of 4 yrs ago had some type of herpes thats on the entire body ( I don't know what type it is). Her husband made her live with her friend when his outbreak occurs so she doesn't get infected. She told me she didn't have sex with him when his outbreak occurs (again, I don't really trust everything she tells me now) She has been divorced 4 yrs ago ( i was focusing on my life and totally forgot the ex-husband or her previous life before me). This is now a battle for me of trust, since all these blisters has came up ever since dating/getting serious with her. I'm so down/some what depress cuz of this.

My question today, for the past 3 days i have been having muscle twitches on my uppoer left lip (where mustache grows and not on the lip itself). is that a sign of anything? Since I'm on Acyclovir already, I just finished my doses. Should I get a refill and continue my dosage? And for how long? Thanks so much.

is it possible that you had hsv2 long before this and just never knew it? of course it is! It is actually far more common than most folks think. if you were never tested before and this partner is negative for hsv2, then you know you had hsv2 before you met her.

Grace, she said she got tested for HSV and STD work up (Gonnorhea and Chlamydia) and ALL came back negative.  I didn't go with her to her STD appointment, but she told me the results afterwards.

Is it possible I have it awhile back (with ex-wife) and it didn't come up until with her? For some reason, I just don't believe her.

odds are that neither you nor your partner were ever tested for herpes before this. did your partner get tested to know her status?

just take the 2 days of 800mg 3x/day. you will still have lesions but the medication has done all it's going to do.
