oral sex and genital hsv 2

i was recently diagnosed with HSV 2 after being in a monogamous relationship for over a year, AND used condoms nearly every time.  Anyways i had been thinking about breaking up with her, prior to my diagnosis now i feel trapped even more, because we both have it. Recently several women have been quite forward with me, asking when im gonna break up with my girlfriend, when are we going out, grabbing me, flirting, etc. I have never experienced this level of attention from women in my life and now it comes at a time right after im diagnosed with genital herpes. this has made me feel horrible about myself and although hasnt caused me too much physical distress i would never want to be responsible for giving it to others. my question is regarding oral sex and hsv2, the thought of telling every person who wants to date me that i have genital herpes is horrifying. first off i plan on ALWAYS using a condom from now on. i get outbreaks right under the head.  I had read that the risk of hsv2 transmission orally is quite low and if they do get it then it usually will never recur.  what is the likelihood that im going to give someone oral hsv2 by receiving unprotected oral? if i take acyclovir during the day before a date will this reduce risk of transmission?

the location of your lesions usually is meaningless. you shed the virus from the area of the lesions when you have them and also from the entire anogenital area too. You also shed from the entire anogenital area in between obvious lesions also periodically.  This is all covered in the herpes handbook which is free to read online if you've never read it. Just google it and it comes right up.

are you asking if it's ok to not talk about your genital herpes with potential partners? None of us will ever tell you that yes it is ok not to talk about it. It's part of being sexually responsible to talk about what you know you have and about what precautions you are willing to take to protect a partner. You'll never find a gal who didn't appreciate your honesty for being up front about it with them I assure you!

Yes the antiviral will reduce the risk but still be very cautious as the types are interchangeable between oral and genital.
