primary infection

I performed oral sex on a female and the next night I developed a sore throat. The next morning I looked in the mirror and there were small bumps (about 1 mm) on the soft palate. Its been about 2 days. The area around the bumps are now red. Is this a symptom of primary hsv-2 infection?

the risk of you contracting a std orally from performing oral sex is incredibly low. We don't recommend any testing from it unless you develop symptoms. The symptoms you have developed were far too early to be a std from this encounter.

if you really feel the need to test for std's, you need to wait at least a week to test for gonorrhea and chlamydia and you need to make sure your provider is testing you properly since your only risk was oral infection.  Honestly though save your money - this isn't worth testing for.

If you want to protect yourself, only perform protected oral sex ( and only receive protected oral ).  saves you a lot of worry like this :)

It's not unsual for one to be nervous when dealing with symptoms they fear is herpes.  Sometimes the flu is just the flu.  But a lot of conditions have "Flu like symptoms" as their thing.

Let us know what the doctor says.

Thank you for your response. I see you've done a lot of research and I appreciate your input. I've spent hours yesterday and today going over the symptoms and I'm just so nervous. I do feel somewhat sick with flu-like symptoms, but it's possible that it's just nerves. This has happened to me before. I am going to get a full screening done to see what is going on. I have seen though that herpes can show up after two days, but it does seem unlikely that primary infection symptoms would only show up after 24 hours.

Herpes won't show up in a day.  Be seen by your provider for a proper work up.
