results and a question

I just got my lab back and it says i have a 4.something index for hsv1 but i'm negative for hsv2.
i know that i gave it to my husband a couple weeks ago.  and i know i have it genitally not orally. I just want to know that since we both have it do we have to be as careful?

he hasn't had a blood test. but really if you reason everything what else could it be?? i doubt that it's anything else. and yes i was irritated when i found out that the only way he was diagnosed was visually. i did feel that it was a very irrispnsible way to do things.
but all the symptoms and even my bloodwork points to it.. what else might it be??

Only 20-40% of folks who have oral herpes, ever get obvious cold sores to know it. You can't assume that a lack of cold sores means a lack of oral infection.

Like I said, next time you guys have genital symptoms, be seen within 48 hours of their appearance for lesion cultures for better answers. A visual exam doesn't cut it and is actually considered irresponsible at this point to only do that and no lesion cultures and also follow up blood work if need be.

Has hubby had a blood test done yet?

So neither of you has had a lesion culture that was hsv+?  Probably a good idea to get them the next time you have symptoms to confirm that you actually have genital herpes going on.

I was diagnosed with a lab, i wasn negative for hsv2 and positive for hsv1 but the only place i've ever had a break out was genitally. so i've put two and two together. I figured i must have gotten it three years ago from an ex that didn't tell me that he had it.  he is the only other person i've ever been with. then about a month ago i had a super mild and very little break out that i passed off as an ingrown hair. well after that my husband had his first breakout.
he was only visually diagnosed, but the chances that it's hsv1 are too great for it to be a mistake.
so that's how we were "diagnosed."
we are just now starting to deal with it. i dont know if he feels any better but i feel much more better knowing that it's strand one instead of strand two. when it first came up we had such a difficult time, but now things are finally starting to go back to normal.
i just had a couple questions is all. and since my break outs were three years apart and totally different in the amount of pain and warts i had i'm really not that worried. every web site i go to says it does get less painful and better over time. so i'm not worried. just thankful that now i have some answers

Not neccesarily but possible, unfortunately thats something you would only find out out afterwards,it would be entirely up to yourselves how you deal with the possibility of that perhaps happening, but there is no real reason to assume it will,it may or it may not ....
Sorry I can't give any definate answer to this question

If you both have it genitally then no but if your husband only has it orally it is still possible for him to contact it genitally from unprotected sex .... it's not very likely but it IS possible the reason being that once HSV1 has established itself in one area which is generally the Oral area it doesn't usually change sites ..... in short if you usually get HSV1 outbreaks Orally then it's unlikely you will then get them Genitally,I say unlikely but not impossible ........
