should I or shouldn't I?

I don't have herpes. There is a 38 yo woman that I love that told me that she caught herpes from her ex husband when she was 16. She said that she has had SOME outbreaks but she can't remember the last time she had an outbreak. I asked that she take a test for herpes and everything else. She took one and everything came back NEGATIVE. She shared the test with me and the results read this way:

HSV 1 LgM Antibodies < 1:10 titer (Range: <1.10) Normal

HSV 2 LgM Antibodies < 1:10 titer (Range: <1.10) Normal

When I asked her what that meant, she said that the Nurse that called her with the results said that the test came back NEGATIVE and that there are NO Herpe ANTIBODIES found in her Blood. She said that the nurse said that the test was NEGATIVE.

I've been doing MUCH research on this, because though I love her immensely,it would be HARD to fathom NOT being able to FREELY EXPRESS MYSELF physically with and to her AND to NOT be able to consummate our marriage. ONE website says that "if you're NOT infected, then DON'T sleep with anyone that IS"! ANOTHER one says "DON'T sleep with an infected person during and outbreak". But SHE told me that she CAN'T REMEMBER the LAST time that she HAD an "outbreak". SOMEONE QUALIFIED PLEASE help me.

Does this result MEAN that she HAS herpes or NOT? She had the Blood test taken at a Doctor's Office, and the top of the report says "PCR TESTING"...

   Please help me.Thank you.

Hi, there seems to be some confusion with the test. A pcr is from a swab of a lesion and is used mostly for blood drawn from spinal fluids looking for DNA Also mentioning igM implies a simplex test which looks for antibodies in the blood but bottom line is we dont use igm only igg.
So we cant answer your question. She need a herpes select type specific blood test.

Thank you. OK,she just told me that she did a BLOOD TEST. Please, though, tell me,is there ANY WAY to interpret the MEANING of:

HSV 1 LgM Antibodies < 1:10 titer (Range: <1.10) Normal

HSV 2 LgM Antibodies < 1:10 titer (Range: <1.10) Normal

And you mentioned "IgG"...so should I just ask her to go and take one of them? And if SO,what would be the MEDICAL TERM for that type of test? (Thanks for the QUICK reply).

The IgM test does not reliably detect a herpes infections.
She must request an IgG blood antibody test that is type specific for HSV1 and HSV2. No other test has credibility.

Thanks.
