skin problem

i had a condition with  extremely dry flaky skin on my legs,(dermothopy) which then began to crack and become inflamed. After several weeks had several blisters on back of legs and one on foot which healed quickly. Doctor thought it may be HSV2 but culture was negative. I am still concerned about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sometimes folks don't find out they have genital herpes until something else triggers an obvious recurrence. Many of the treatments for other skin conditions can trigger herpes to be more active too. Definitely just follow up with the testing and go from there. if you need help with your blood test results, just post them here in this post and I'll gladly give a hand with them too.

Yes, that makes sense. The fact that I had never experienced any initial outbreak in the past of any kind made this confusing. It just seemed that the lesions may have been a result of the chronic skin condition.

the dry cracked skin had been recurrent on and off for several years, The last time was when the lesions occurred. Could this be an infection other than hsv?

you can follow up with a type specific herpes igg blood test since it's been a year since you last had sex. see what your status is and go from there.  lesion cultures are notoriously falsely negative so since your provider thought your symptoms looked like they could be herpes, get the blood testing too.

In addition the flaky inflamed skin was on upper body as well, but the sores appeared only on the leg.
