Hello,
I'm writing because I am concerned I may have HSV 1/2. I had unprotected sex with a female that I have been seeing for quite some time first encounter was the last week of November 2015 and our last encounter was the first Week of January 2016. I cannot honestly remember having any symptoms of an outbreak after our first encounter, nor within the first 2 to 3 weeks after our second. That doesn't mean I did not have them but I cannot recall any specific symptoms. Around the first week of February, I developed a rather harsh red rash in the creases of my groin that extended down to my buttocks And parts of my inner thighs. I treated this area with Lotrimin beings that my job and being a bigger guy creates a moist environment in that area. I cannot say that the treatment was completely successful but along with a improved hygiene regimen the rash is less. I did have a full STD panel of urine sample and blood which all reported negative including HSV 1/2. however, as I have read on previous post this would have been right in around four weeks of my last sexual encounter. Over the past five days I have noticed two small lesions one white in color the other red in color on the midshaft Of my penis and cannot say that they occurred at the same time. I also have had increased general discomfort of my entire genitaI area.I have had some burning with urination but I do have a history of prostatitis. The only other symptoms that I have read from other post that I can say I may have had is some general fatigue and headache. However, my stress level Along with my work schedule can explain both of those. My partner has not been tested but insists that she has not had any symptoms of any kind. My questions are:
1. do the symptoms I have explained fit in any manner into possibly having HSV 1/2?
2. what is the perfect time frame to confirm via blood test the presence or absence of HSV 1/2 antibodies? I have read 12 weeks to three months?
3. does anyone have suggestions on possible causes if HSV 1/2 is not expected? I have made an appointment with PCP but is not for two weeks.
Please allow me to say thank you in advance of any response, and allow me to express my appreciation for this form and the answers that are provided. For someone like myself who is currently very anxious about possible exposure, I have found comfort in reading other symptoms and responses to those symptoms by individuals who seem to have a much higher working knowledge of this issue then I. Whether you know it or not you are truly providing a great community resource for those who may otherwise have no one to turn to. Thank you again.
