Once you have HSV 1 in one location on your body (your lips), it is highly unlikely that you would acquire it at a new location on your body. In 30 years I MAY have seen it once. I doubt that is the situation with you. If you have a cut that you are worried about perhaps you should have it swabbed for herpes as you could possibly have HSV 2 infection and not know it? Have you been tested for herpes?
In summary, I am not concerned about you getting HSV 1 from your partner's mouth during this encounter.
Does that help?

You don't "recatch" HSV 1. But there may be something about the friction of kissing that triggers outbreaks for you.
This is my final post on this thread.

sorry, i meant to say 'kiss' people with a cold sore. i have had cold sores for about 5 years randomly. but in the past 2 years, i've kissed 2 people who had visible cold sores.. and got a cold sore myself a couple days later. why do i seem to 'recatch' hsv1?
Your doctor is in a better position than I am to have thoughts about what is going on with you.
I can't say you are in the clear for HSV 2. Only type specific antibody testing can answer that for u.
I don't know what you are asking about the cold sore issue.

Hi Terri,
Thanks for your response. This has actually made me MORE paranoid though! I actually went to the doctor the day after I posted this when I had the "cut". I think perhaps 'cut' was an inflated description. Anyhow the Dr said it didnt look like herpes at all. He said it looked like a yeast infection. He said the whole area was so dry all over and this caused cracking. I expressed to him my exteme paranoia over herpes and he actually said he didnt even see anything that would be feasible to swab to test for herpes.
That said... do you think I am in the clear for herpes (hsv2)?? also why would i seem to get cold sores when i miss people with cold sores... if i've already had them??
thanks!!

also thinking back, i wanted to elaborate that i noticed the cut and subsequent stinging a few hours after rough masturbation on the already dry/irritated/area area..
also just wanted to elaborate that the stinging only happened when water touched the affected area in the shower initiallly
