i have pics of my results in my photos
if the culture was positive for hsv, then its not zoster.
just because they didnt type it doesnt mean the results are not reliable. a culture result is a definite result - combined with your symptoms, it leaves no doubt that indeed you have it. but as Grace said, you need to learn if its hsv1 or 2. the easiest way would be having your swab typed, but it sounds like they didnt do it.
if your culture was not typed, you and your partner will need blood tests for hsv1 and 2, igg only. youll need to get one now, as a baseline, and if negative another one after 3-4 months.
let us know how it goes
they sent everybody samples to Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services i read that viral culture test supose to be type and viral identificiation test just finds the hsv so i am guessing thats what i had done and there are some test that are inaccurate which are old test and should'nt be used is there by chance that i didnt have a culture done and i was misdiagnosed i have not ever felt any tingling sensation when i had that reaction an i got tested by np (nurse practioniar) i been wondering why they never tested my blood or took a sample when i went back on march.8 and to see what type or is a recent or old infection i have read that is a little low when a partner dont have sympthoms but have the virus it is possible that i could had contacted it
is it possible that it pick up Varicella-zoster instead of hsv i read that Varicella-zoster is chicken pox i had chicken pox when i was a little kid
yes it sometimes takes awhile for the marks to completely fade. it's not a sign that the virus is still active though.
is it possible to still have the marks where the spots was
they should start ordering typing on their cultures at the clinic. the CDC recommends it as well as it's cheaper than blood testing and gives you more accurate and quicker answers as to if it's hsv1 or hsv2 going on.
if you haven't read the free herpes handbook that we recommend in our read before posting post on the forum, I recommend googling it and doing so. it'll give you the basic info you need to be able to talk to providers to make sure that you are getting the care that is in your best interest. it's by Terri Warren, our herpes expert here on medhelp.
Finding out if you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally is helpful to help you decide what precautions to take with potential partners as well as how to treat your herpes. it's important to know which type it is.
BV makes herpes more active and can trigger recurrences so not too unusual that you contracted it when you had bv or it could even be that the bv triggered your first obvious recurrence of a prior infection of it. at this point no way to tell since so much time has passed.
make sure any future partners actually get tested for herpes so that together you can make informed decisions about what precautions to take together. it's not a part of routine std testing so odds are you weren't tested for it previously and most of your partner probably only think that they are getting tested for it.
keep asking questions :)
