Ok so here's the story...
I had fooled around with a male friend of mine on January26. A few days later, my vagina started to tingle followed by lower back pain. On January 30th my vagina had three tiny sores that had developed. I immediately went to the doctor where she said that it was herpes and took a culture of it. The sores, however, had not completely developed yet with pus on top so she said that it may come back a false negative because she couldn't get a good sample. She put me on acyclovir and everything went away in 4 days...and as expected the culture came back negative.
She then told me that I should return if there were sores again or wait 12 weeks for the blood test.
In the meantime I was freaking out and stressing out. My lower back had started to hurt bad and my vagina to tingle about 6 weeks later and I took the acyclovir that had been prescribed and no sores formed.
So this past monday (about 11 and a half weeks after initial outbreak) I got the blood test that was type specific. My blood test came back negative for both type 1 and 2. And now I'm more confused than ever.
Should I have waited longer? Could this too be a false negative? I had all the classic symptoms, what could it have been? I'm so confused. Please help!

No that is not correct for a newly acquired primary herpes infection. The initial ob can last anywhere from 2-4 weeks - usually treating it, if started early enough speeds healing by a few days and shortens it on average to about 7-10 days.

the nurse that treated me said because of the dosage she gave me (2 acyclovir pills 3 times daily) that the symptoms would go away in 2-4 days....is that not right?
Since you are testing negative on the blood test you were more likely to have a very "classic" blister like ob that would've lasted for about 2 weeks even after you started the acyclovir.
when you get symptoms again - go be seen and discuss them with your provider. Get an exam and tested for yeast and bacterial infections too. If they see any open lesions they can try culturing them again but really it sounds like something else is going on.

I wouldn't take any more acyclovir at all. The next time you have symptoms - go be seen that day for a further work up.
You didn't have classic symptoms of herpes actually - you had symptoms that could be herpes - they also could be many other things. A negative blood test 3 months after this all started is a good indicator that they are something else so a further work up is in order. Also a first ob healing up in 4 days even with medication is another indicator that it probably wasn't a herpes ob you were originally diagnosed as having.
