that's why I recommend it regularly :) It's down to earth advice that is up to date and scientifically accurate. ASHA is tops in their field and have been doing std education of patients and medical providers for many years now. they cosponsor the cdc's std conference every 2 years with them too.
this website is so much better then the rest!!!http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm (less scary)
Grace thank you yes she does ! Funny enough she's calmer then me, she told me to calm down. It simply gosh what you read online freaks people out because doctor told me to relax its nothing serious but what i read online ( tons of pgs of craziness versus the seeing a doctor once) the pages beat it! Thank you !!!!
odds are you caught something non-herpes that is causing you to have a sore throat. they are very common this time of the year.
sounds like mom needs to read that link I posted too!
Well the reason why i checked hsv-1 was because on the last time he saw me he had a blister and i didnt know what it was so i was like its whatever. Yet, the next day i checked what it was i freaked out!! My mother felt the same way ... so we went to the doctor and he laughed at me for freaking out my issues is i never had any signs of anything and i had been with someone for years now i have a soar throat and i have noticed read bumps ( no white yet red bumps) on the back and side of my throat . So im freaking out because there may be a possibility i date my ex again and i dont want to be like hey i have hsv-1 now. And honestly if before i was terrifed of kissing people now i am going to ask for bloodwork and birth certificate jk... you guys have made me feel so much better though because i was going insane!!! But i could simply be having a cold because everyone in my house is sick also :/ thank you guys!!
statistically 1 out of every 2-3 people you know has hsv1 orally. It's incredibly common. You might even have it yourself even if you can't recall ever having had a cold sore.
http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm has terrific info on oral herpes for more reading for you so you can better educate yourself about this very common infection instead of being so fearful of it that you find yourself running from relationships because of it :)
grace
True that a lot of people have HSV1 orally and it's not too big a deal to most. Whether some would classify it as an STD is depending on how you contracted it I suppose. Nevertheless, it's still HSV and contagious and most would probably rather not have it. You would probably be ok kissing someone who has no symptoms most of the time, and how are you going to know anyway unless you ask point blank, "Before I kiss you, do you ever have cold sores?", lol. That might get kind of annoying to ask every guy you kiss. But if you just don't kiss anyone when they have obvious sores, then you would probably be pretty safe. Although not impossible, it's pretty low odds to contract HSV1 by kissing someone when they have absolutely no sores on their mouth area I would suspect. And like I said, unless they do, you really have no way to know. Use your own judgement and don't worry too much about it.
Yeah, alot of people have it, you could have even have it before him, even if you have no symptoms.
Hsv1 isn't an std if its oral usually and its not serious so many ppl have it its not serious at all research it its nothing to even worry about.
