Yes, there are many cases of high blood pressure being hereditary. I know several people whom are active, eat very balanced diets, and yet- still struggle with high blood pressure. Sometimes it can be a combination of diet and genetics, as well.

Genetic factors can increase your chances of it effecting you. Of course bad lifestyle choices, diet and a lack of exercise are factors also.
