High Blood Pressure Medicine and Anxiety

Hello I'm new to the forum and I'm glad I found it. I have a question about high blood pressure medication. I found out two years ago that I have high blood pressure. I also suffer with ocd. I was put on lisinopril and amlodipine. Ever since I started taking these medications my ocd has been totally out of control. There are rituals and image problems that I have never had before and it's really getting worse. Does anyone here have anxiety problems along with HBP and the medications have made them worse? Doctors don't believe me but I know my own mind and how different it is since I went on these medications.
Thank you

Hi Buster, Hang in there! I know how you feel! I took myself off 10mg Lisinopril about 2 years ago because it was causing excruciating muscle aches and foggy headedness. Within 72 hours of coming off it the fog lifted and the pain in joints and muscles subsided dramatically. I now think it also contributed to my OCD; made my usually symptoms worse, possibly. Can't prove it of course. But I can tell you after getting off the Lisinopril my compulsive on-line shopping dropped off dramatically. Hah!! (Note: I don't recommend going cold turkey like I did, bp really jumped up, just find an alternative.) Currently I had to get back on something so trying the amlodipine but just started so can't say yet if that will work.
