alcohol intake significantly lowers my high bp --does this indicate anything?

most everything i've read says that alcohol consumption beyond one drink/day leads to higher blood pressure.  in my case, i've found that drinking significantly lowers my bp more effectively and quickly than any bp medication i've ever taken.  it can be one drink or many (upwards of six), but my bp is always significantly lower while i'm consuming alcohol.  when i'm not drinking, my bp goes right back up to unhealthy levels. is my situation abnormal?  while i don't want to condone excessive drinking, i'm a bit conflicted that alcohol seems to help more than any drug i've taken. given that i've been struggling with bp medications (side effects, efficacy, etc.), perhaps i should be using a particular type of medication that mimics alcohol intake?  any thoughts or suggestions?

I can imagine it's very possible that alcohol consumption does lower your BP (while you're drinking) the problem is when you wake the next day your BP is probably elevated.  Drinking is going to make your BP worse over time and you will only notice benefits while your intoxicated.  I definitely think you're on the wrong track.

If you want to lower your BP take Hawthorn extract, Hyysop, eat celery and do cardio daily.  I guarantee your BP will go down after making this your a part of your daily activities.  Stop drinking, eat extremely healthy and do cardio daily.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
I understand your concern regarding this alcohol and its effect on your blood pressure. While alcohol has been associated with hypertension also (alcohol-induced hypertension), moderate alcohol drinking has its health benefits according to some studies. However, evidence about the possible health benefits of alcohol is not certain and alcohol may not benefit everyone who drinks. If you choose to drink alcohol you do so only in moderation and as recommended, up to one drink a day for women or two drinks a day for men. Examples of one drink include beer, wine and distilled spirits. It is best that you check with your attending physician also for proper evaluation.Your medical history as well as your your over-all health are important considerations. Take care and do keep us posted.
