A horse is a lot of hard work.. I know for a fact I have grew up around them all my life. I even have 6 head right now. It take loyalty and dedication to raise and own a horse... constant attention..... You must feed and water twice a day, clean stalls daily... groom them off, clean out there feet.. keep there feet cut down and shoes  on them at all time..If you dont have the time in a day to do all of that then maybe your not ready yet...

Hi Hailey, which is what i am guessing your name is. I've been riding for 8 years, i owned my first horse and he ended up getting insanly ill with lames disease. my parents had to pay for like 15 blood test to make sure they covered everything, and then they had to pay for him to go on 55 pills a day for 2 months. At this time economy issues come crashing down on us, like everybody else.  Ever since then i've been saving up for my own horse, but would get my head into horse camps, which i would have to pay for them. I am 17 years old, almost 18 in 4 months!!! I finally might be buying my own horse fairly soon. I live out of state right now for personal issues, but honestly id get on you parents about it non- stop. If they say no, keep asking. If their anything like my parents you gotta keep on them like 24/7 until they give in. Unlike my parents they'll  just get mad at you and say " Just stop asking us to buy you a horse, your luck that you get a riding lesson once a week!!!" i think my parents are also scared to buy my another horse after what happened with my old one. You said that your dad owns a riding stable? If he does, girl just ask them, i know its nerve raking at first. But if you dad owns a barn that he will most likley say yes.
I hope everything works out for you. and sorry for an over amount of writing, i get myslef into story type things.
Good Luck
Leah =)

Please see my response below to the poster who wanted information about how to get her mom to let her get a horse.  I would say the same to you as your situations are similar. Good Luck!
