I am 18. And i currently got diagnozed with hpv high risk. I have been having unprotected sex with my partenr for a very long time is it okay to continue unprotected. My doctor said ot didnt matter because we already share the same type of stains?
Yeah, that is the problem. He said he was fine, but apparently not. Be safe.

He got tested and he said he was fine. But when I got tested I had HPV and clamydia. I stopped seeing him after that since I know I couldn't have gotten that from someone else because it was the only time I had unprotected sex.
No question is stupid, it is stupid not to question, LOL. I don't it matter if it is 3 months or 12 weeks because the ELISA test checks for antibodies and it takes time for the body to produce antibodies that is why you have to wait a while. It is best to err on the side of longer time than shorter. Usually, you do follow up a 3 month test after a year to be absolutely sure. There are a lot of false positives with the ELISA test that is why they double check with the western blot. There is no other test other than the confirmatory test (Western blot) that I know of. For positive patients they do a quantive test for viral load to if the anti-viral drugs work. Is your partner getting tested too?

And it was the same partner both times I had unprotected sex. I havet had sex since because I want to make sure I'm 100% and won't pass anything on to anyone
Im not sure which test my clinic uses but I'll find out. Some sites say 3 months is a conclusive result. But would it be 3 months to the day of having unprotected sex or 12 weekss? This may be a stupid question but some websites say 3 months and others say 12 weeks. Some months are longer than others so what should i go by? Sorry again if this question sounds stupid.
I forgot to put your name in the last post about HIV. See the last post. Also, what test are you asking about for the test that is more accurate for HIV? I think they do a test for a screen and if positive they double check with a test called a western blot. I can't remember what the initial screening test is probably an ELIZA, Enyme Linked Immuno Sorbant Assay. I would have to look it up.

3 months is better for HIV testing. You can check now and get a baseline but 3 months is better for determining the real picture.I was told that 0, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year to be absolutely certain when I stuck with a needle by a patient with HIV. I was so scared. But, all were negative. That has been a long time ago when it first came out so since then I have heard around 3 months is good. If you were wanting to be more certain if you changed partners then I would do 6 months. But I talk too much LOL!

Well I had unprotected sex 12weeks ago but the last time was 9 weeks ago with the same person. Is there a test I can request that's more accurate?
This helped soo much! Thanks for everything you changed my life and put my life at ease. Im getting tested for HIV this week to be certain. If I had unprotected sex 9 weeks ago. Is it too early to test for HIV?
Firstly, I want to put your mind at rest by saying that if you are under 30 they shouldn't even be testing you for HPV at all because of up to 50% of women in the 20-30 year range can have HPV and virtually all clear up within a year on its own. But, you should still the PAP smear but not HPV. They don't yet test for the oral HPV because it is a recent finding that it can lead to head and neck cancer. But make sure your dentist does the oral cancer screening once a year and I just wanted to inform you to safe. It is really rare to get cervical cancer from HPV because of the PAP smear. So, that should also be conforting. If it is high risk HPV you won't get genital warts from it. Regarding the oral sex, it is possible to give it to your partner but it is not likely that he would get oral cancer from it. You clear it in the vaginal and oral areas most of the time and he can also get checked at the dentist. Again other STD are much more worrysome. I hope this helps.

Hi I will try to answer all your questions:
1. Gardesil, only protects you against two types of high risk HPV. These are types 16 and 18 and two types of low risk HPV which are types 6 and 11 (which cause genital warts). However, there are at least 14 total types that are considered high risk HPV types so that the vaccine does not cover all high risk types only the most common (70%) of them. It also doesn't protect against all genital wart types just the most common too.
2. Yes high risk types of HPV will cause cancer. But, since you are in your 20's you should clear this virus within a few months most likely (usually less than a year). There are false positives and negatives with these tests too sometimes.
3. Most of the time the HPV of all types will clear. There is a very slim chance it could turn into a problem. But since you are getting checked annually then you shouldn't worry.
4. HPV is sexually transmitted and you can pass it on to your male partner. So you would have him wear a condom until it is cleared. But you should also worry about other STD's including HIV and Hepatitis so being safe until you are both monogamous is the best course of action. Condom are not 100% but it is some protection.
5. As for oral or anal sex, you can get head and neck cancer from HPV also as well as anal cancer from anal sex if the man has HPV. If you don't have HPV in your throat or anal area you can't pass it to him that way.
6. Kissing should be ok even if you had HPV in your throat. At least I've never hear of it being transmitted that way.
I hope I answered all your questions. Feel free to ask more if you don't understand anything.
