Diva cup and discharge problems

Hi,

I'm 22 and having problems with a Diva Cup that I just purchased and have been using for 5 months. A few days after using it while on my period, I get this thick yellow-white discharge and it is painful to have sex. After one time of having sex, it usually goes away and turns back to normal only to return next month. I suspect that it is this new Diva cup and maybe I'm not cleaning it correctly? I have been using antibacterial soap and have been dipping it in a pot of boiling water briefly. Also, I'm worried that it could be HPV or cervical cancer. I've had the first two rounds of Gardisil as a catch up vaccine and will finish up in April. I've been with my boyfriend exclusively for the past three and a half years, but was quite promiscuous in high school. Please help me!
