HPV: Male, now what?

I am a twenty-one year old male who is self diagnosing myself with HPV; I know it sounds incredibly arrogant, but please read on. I have developed 3 fairly small cauliflower shaped, grey growths on my scrotum; the pictures I have seen online look just like what I have. I have read enough, on this website and the national institute of health's, to understand that it's, as Dr. Hook put it in another blog, "a fact of life." I tested for HIV today, and have plans to test for herpes, syphilis, NGU and gonorrhea in the next few days. I am, like many americans without health care insurance , and am in no place to spend a lot of money on a disease that resolves itself. The "warts" (using quotes because its not a definitive diagnosis) are painless, small, and barely any trouble. Would it be necessary for me to seek treatment for it?

I have heard of people using apple cider vinegar to self treat genital warts. From what I read it takes a long time and can make the skin raw and irritated, but it is very inexpensive. You could probably leave them alone and they might resolve, but you'd be contagious to any partners. Also, if they start to spread or grow larger you want to get those things off you because they can get harder to treat. You can go to a planned parenthood and they will treat you without insurance. They treat men as well as women.

Good point, better safe than sorry right? Anything one should know about HPV? Really bums me out to know I am infected, but I guess, looking on the bright side, there are worse diseases. I got a negative on HIV, so I guess some good came with that bad.

I think you should...there are cases that won't go away on their own...and also, these warts you have now may get bigger and spread without treatment. Try a health care clinic...they may be a little more affordable.
