Is it skin tag or is it HPV wart?

I recently notice a little skin flap near my anus (relatively away from the opening though) two weeks ago and I got worried last night after reading about HPV warts and today I went to see a GP cos I'm not sure if it's a skin tag or a wart. She said it's a wart and it got me really worried now cos it'll mean I have HPV. She's referring me to a colorectal specialist but my appointment's in about a week's time and meanwhile I'm just really worried.

Now the thing is, I went home and did a lot of research, comparing pictures of HPV warts and anal skin tags and it seems to me that what I have looks more like a skin tag than wart because:

1. It's a single spot unlike what I see on anal warts where it comes in cluster...it's the only standalone skin flap

2. It's a flap that I can pull out and stretch out and not like the typical wart that is solid and mount on the skin with a cauliflower texture

3. I found it about 2 weeks ago and since then, it's still a single standalone spot and didn't spread as opposed to what HPV warts are supposed to do.

So does this sound like a skin tag or is it HPV warts??? I'm seeing a specialist but I still have a week to go before my appointment...so I'm freaking out! Somebody please help!

Thanks. I'm seeing a specialist in 8 days' time but I'm just worried. But the more I look at it, the more it looks like a skin tag! Finger crossed!!!!

I would suggest seeing a dermatologist, you can also have the spot bopsied to figure out it is a wart. We can't diagnose you but i would def. suggest see a dermo and having it biopsied for a proper diagnosis.
