Oral HPV

I have had what feels like a sore in the back of my throat for about six weeks. I have ear pain, and a tight feeling in my neck. I have HVP and had abnormal cells removed from my cervix in the past. I went to my GP with my concerns and he looked in my throat, felt my neck and glands, and said that I have nothing to worry about. My blood was drawn and my blood tests were perfectly normal. I was tested for Mono and that test was negative. He said that my white blood cell count was normal so if I had cancer the white blood cell count would be elevated. Is this true?
