I had a history of oral warts, but I would assume this is due to my low immune system as I have other sideline problems. I had it by giving oral sex to my ex-girlfriend. As long as you don't do stupid things like touching your lips / mouth after you touch your penis or give oral sex to someone who has genital warts, you should be fine.

And again, I feel like I should emphasize... touching yourself THEN your mouth just isn't a good way to spread the virus. Of the miniscule proportion of people that develop oral warts (that soscared872 spoke very well about), think of the even SMALLER proportion that get it from touching themselves, then their mouths.

My guess- that number is 0.

And that number is out of millions who perform oral sex every year.

Put another way, over 30 years multiply millions by 30 and 5600 by 30 and you still get a small percentage. Less than 1%.

Worry more about lightning and buckling your seatbelt. You are most likely to die from some other cancer (esophagal, colon, breast, prostate, lung, pancreas) than from throat cancer due to HPV.

You can't give yourself warts in your mouth by touching your own penis first. HPV virus, like herpes, needs to be massaged into tissue to take. I also believe that autoinfection (infecting other parts of your body) is extremely difficult, if not impossible.

Oral warts are too rare to worry about. Only the paranoid need to worry about them. I went through a paranoid phase a year ago and the doctors on the expert forum set my mind straight. Nevertheless I am far more educated about STDs than I was a year ago. I had very risky behavior a few years ago and decided to test for STDs - complete bloodwork tests and found that I have none.

There is no test for high risk HPV in heterosexual males, but your body clears the virus within 24 months in most cases, making the virus too weak to detect.

I agree with Griever. Oral warts are exceptionally rare.

Oral warts are super rare and uncommon. Most people who have a weak immune system get oral warts, i would not worry about it at all. I went through some sort of scare that you have now, i was just over reacting. It happens. Its scary how much our minds can trick us into thinking there is something legitimately wrong with us.

You can even check the expert forums about oral warts. The doctors say that it is rare, i also agree. Do not worry yourself, especially if the dentist told you not to worry.
