Unprotected Oral

Hi there.

After my 9 year monogomous relationship ended, i had found someone rather quickly (I guess you could say a rebound). After a while of being with her there was a night when things advanced and I foolishly recieved oral from her without a condom. She told me sometime after this that she had HPV. I had never heard of this before and trusted her when she said it meant that if we were to have intercourse I'd have to wear a condom.

Well after doing some research it seems that sometimes even a condom wouldn't help. So my question is what is the liklyhood that i contracted this horrible STI through her giving me oral? our genitals never touched and i never gave her oral. She also never had any warts present and had them removed about a 6 months to a year before i met her.

I want to go to the doctors (as soon as I get my health card updated) but I keep reading there is no HPV test for men... not even this HPV DNA test I keep hearing about? It's been about 2 months and I show no signs of anything what-so-ever, but I've read that it can take from 3 months to 2 years before seeing anything. what is the usual onset time for genital warts?

Thank you very much for your responses. I have read like 20 forums posts from the STD doctors on this website and see that my chances are very slim. Still a little worried, but I guess only time will tell for sure.... and believe you me this scared me enough that i WILL be asking and potential partners about their STD history. Once again thank you for the help!

there is no test for HPV warts in men...if u get them u get them!they have not come up with a test for men yet.u fingering here and her having cervical hpv and u getting virus is remotely possible but ur body would clear it.....again most transmission rates are genital...penis in vagina against cervix with xchange of body fluids.HPV warts don't turn cancerous externally...internally if left unattended they would spread and cause problems but one would have to ignore them for awhile b4 any cancer risk would set in.AGAIN rare for oral warts......i understand ur anxiety but ur really stressing urself out here...u have rid urself of ur biggest stressor HER...she sounds like a real dingaling!for future....ask ur partners about their std history...any balking or refusal to answer should send u running.and condom use so important!

Okay, okay... couple more questions! (i keep thinking of more!).

She told me that her warts had turned cancerous (or something along those lines) but what I have read contradicts this as supposedly the genital wart bearing strains are harmless. That mutual friend I mentioned previously told me that she ACTUALLY had cysts in her ovaries (which i guess if left can turn cancerous?).

After I go to the doctor to take the test for the wart bearing strain, and if it comes back negative, should I still abstain from sex in fears that I could potentially be carrying a harmful strain for women?

Thank you very much for the info. BTW she did have genital/cervical HPV. Perhaps you could enlighten me a little bit more? I had my fingers inside of her as well and before this definitly would not be a problem as the "skin to skin" contact was said to be for the genital region. But since browsing on this site I've come across a few postings claiming that it's possible to contract it through this method as well. Does the fact that this happened increase my risk at all? and the fact that she did not have any warts present decrease the chance of contracting it?  

Also, (she is not a very good person) she has slept with 5 or 6 men WITHOUT condoms since I ended things between us. What are the chances then that those men will have contracted the disease? According to a mutual friend (previous friend for her) she feels she does not need to tell these men she has HPV because she does not care for them.

I was told that its more difficult for men to contract the infection from a woman... but this seems un-likely to me. Also, is it possible to contract it from kissing if she had the warts in her mouth? (as far as I know she didn't... but she's not a trustworthy person) and if she did have them in her mouth would that increase the risk of having contracted it from oral?

Sorry for all the questions but this situation has got me extremely stressed.

usual time onset for warts is anywhere from 3-12mos.according to the doctors in this forum.ur risk sounds low since she had them removed 6-12 mos.prior to u....a very slight possibility could exist.There is at present no test for males regarding non-wart bearing HPV strains...many men get it....clear it..and pick up yet another of the 30 strains of HPV and clear that as well unless its the wart bearing.if she had genital/cervical HPV the risk to u of picking this up oral would be rare to nil.
